About Me

The Life & Times of The Direction
Our story begins under the dawn of North London in the rain-sodden month of January, the year of our lord 2005. Paul Davies was sat on the curb, awaiting the 29 to take him anywhere away from where he was. He was draped over his guitar, singing away his troubles, following a God-almighty bust-up with his lady of the day.
From the sleepy shadows came a thin-cut stranger answering to the name of Nick Chesman. He was a-wanderin home from the night before, guitar slung over his shoulder, and a drunken stumble in his step. And on his way did he stumble until he fortuned upon the young pretender, sat, singing in the drizzle. And they spoke, saying...
"I see you ave a guitar"
"I see you ave a guitar an all"
"Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all"
And so they sat, swearing to sing themselves hoarse til their dreams come true. In the following weeks, they signed up the smooth voiced, baby-faced Giulio Vaccaro on drums, and Mark Scott on bass (via the services of him who is known to us as Eagle, but to his mother as Tom). And The Direction were formed.

"The Direction are a rathernattily scruffed looking band from London. Remember that scene in Get Carter when Micheal Caine goes into the rough as f**k local boozer in Newcastle? Well, imagine there was a band playing early Who covers in the corner. That's what they're like." XFM
