Born in Virginia and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Eric Weldon demonstrated an early proclivity for sports and the arts. Eric attended J Eugene McAteer High School where he excelled at Basketball and Track & Field and where he also refined his artistic talents. In 1996, Eric accepted a Track & Field scholarship to the University of California at Berkeley, and graduated in 1998 with a Degree in the Practice of Art.
After a 5-year stint working in education, Eric moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an artist in the entertainment field. For the last few years, Eric has worked as a freelance illustrator, doing storyboards for music videos, television and feature film. (www.weldonarts.com)
In May 2006, with the coaxing of several friends, Eric entered the Tyra Banks Show's first "Top Male Model Competition". When all was said and done, Eric emerged the grand prize winner, earning himself a one-year spokes modeling contract for the underwear brand, 2(x)ist. The Tyra Show experience and exposure immediately launched him into modeling.
Eric has appeared in several fashion shows, including walking the runway in the 2006 Macys Passport show during L.A.s fashion week. He has done print work for, Nike, Target, 24-Hour Fitness and the Hyatt-Regency to name a few. Eric has also appeared in the pages of Mens Fitness Magazine several times. Recently, Eric became just the 3rd man in the last 25 years to serve as an awards host on during the 2007 Academy Awards.
Along with the modeling Eric has developed an itch for acting, he has appeared in both commercials and music videos and recently finished his first feature filmironically, based on the lives of comic book artists.
While walking the runway and working the camera has become second nature for him, Eric stills has roots strongly planted as an artist. This year, Eric also completed the artwork on his first children's book. Between the modeling, acting and, of course, art, Eric Weldon is one of L.A.'s brightest new stars.
