I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm all about those chill moments, exploring the depths of my thoughts, quiet expression. I love seeing smiles on peoples' faces, going to familiar places, pursuing different chases. Constantly searching for my source of Zen, a moment of truth. Spiritual clarity lies just beneath the surface, thick as it may be. But I get my Zen in single spoon servings. Hot showers. Hot track with my headphones on. A cup of hot herbal green tea. Lying underneath the golden sun at Lalakea beach. Belting out a song in the comfort of my car. Shit like that.

My Interests

The Beats. The Rhythm. The Vibe. The Movement. Music one of the loves of my life. Like going out and chillaxin' with the ladies and the fellahs, whether it's clubbin, grabbing some grub, knocking down pins, eight-ball corner pocket, catching a flick, you know the deal. Like dancing and singing, even better when the inspiration is a cutie by my side. I enjoy cooking, bringing people over to the crib, putting smiles on their faces. Simply stated, setting the mood right...

Music:

My roots are in RnB. I am a motown kid, grew up listening to Marvin Gaye, (Big) Luthor, the Jacksons (Michael and Janet, not really Tito), Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Earth Wind and Fire, James Brown, Rick James and of course my idol BARRY WHITE. Dwele, John Legend, Sade, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Musiq, Maxwell, D'Angelo, Alicia Keys, Usher, Craig David etc. are my current fav. RnB artists. But I dig on Hip Hop, especially those cats like Common, MOS DEF, Gangstar, TRIBE CALLED QUEST, Blackstarr, Aesop Rock, The Roots, Jurrasic Five, ATMOSPHERE, Immortal Technique, Sage Francis and other fools that aren't that mainstream. Lil John and the Ying Yang Twins are the most untalented voices on the air and proof that people will buy any dipshit CDS if it's played on the radio 900 times a day. KEEP THE MUSIC ORGANIC PEOPLE: always a seat when you got jazz in the lounge; feat. Miles Davis, Coltrane, Ellington, Dizzy, Arturo Sandoval... As far as rock goes, Red Hot Chili Peppers are Gods, pure punk funk rock infusion. Ska is the shit too, REEL BIG FISH, AAF, Pepper, Mighty Bosstones, Cake, JACK JOHNSON, Donovan Frankenreiter, Matisyahu, Jason Mraz, 311 and of course, SUBLIME. Like my progressive house and downtempo electronica; don't hate on music just b/c you don't understand it. Never can forget Hawaiian and reggae-the humble reverberations of the island soul, C&K, Kalapana, Kohala, Shilo Pas, Ekolu, Hoonua, Ooklah the Moc, Steel Pulse, BOB MARLEY and Natty Vibes always a plus. Current myTunes Album playin: STADIUM ARCADIUM compliments of Red Hot CHili.

Movies:

Poolhall Junkies, Memento, The Big Hit, Boondock Saints, Ong-Bak, Scent of a Woman, The Whole Nine Yards, all Kevin Smith movies (Mallrats, Dogma, Chasing Amy, etc.), Forrest Gump, Requiem for a Dream, Waking Life, Space Balls (all Mel Brook movies), Three Amigos, Dumb and Dumber, Casino, Devil's Advocate, Godfather Series, Speed, 100 Girls, Usual Suspects, Resevoir Dogs (Tarantino is the man), Inconvenient Truth, The Departed, Casino Royale, City of God, I am Sam, and yes..... Serendipity. Being a guy I don't usually like watching chick flicks but I saw The Notebook the other day and I gotta admit that the ending of that movie was almost a tissue box moment.

Television:

Sopranos, Chappelle Show, Family Guy, Nip/Tuck, Sportscenter, Futurama, House, CSI, Desparate Housewives, Lost,The Discovery and History Channel, The Office, Heroes, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, South Park, Heroes, AMERICAN GLADIATORS! Seriously, take a hit of these shows: Three Sheets and Entourage

Books:

Odd Thomas, Green Mile, Trainspotting, Fight Club, Da Vinci Code, ANGELS AND DEMONS (highly recommended), lotsa Greek mythology (back in the younger days) Bringing out the Dead, Seabiscuit, Wild Animus, BANGKOK 8, Sex Drugs and Coacoa Puffs (funny shit man, read it), Bringing Down the House (for all you card counters out there), Killing Yourself to Live; currently reading: Klosterman IV

Heroes:

That single mom working daily double shifts while playing part-time dad to a family of three children. That ex-convict coaching a pop warner football team and educating them of sacrifice, respect, forgiveness, and redemption. That consumate professional athelete forgoing millions of dollars and the privilege of a luxurious lifestyle to give his life in support of the country he loves in the battlefields of endless sand and death. AMERICA BABY! Now that's beautiful.
