About Me

Warning, Actress in training

Check out "The Spy Who Came From The Ghetto". It was a lot of fun filming. I would love to make more.

My Interests

My interests are vast and varied. Sometimes I can't even keep up with them. But my love of music, dancing, writing, reading, learning, traveling, languages and art have remained constant. I speak English, Spanish, French, am currently brushing up on my Italian, and I have taken a couple of semesters of Arabic which I will continue with as soon as I come back from my voyage throughout Europe. As you can see, I love languages and I am eager to learn more.
I have been playing the congas for about 7 years, more or less. I traveled to Cuba in 2003 four months after I met Rolando "el niño mentira" Salgado from the Afro-Cuban All Stars, studied with him and lived there for over a month. I plan to return soon!

Here are just a few of my drawings and paintings. I plan to put more up later.

I'd like to meet:

Artists, writers, musicians, lovers of life, philosophers, photographers, poets, Theoretical Physicists (how exciting!), travelers, those on the spiritual path, wise people.... personnes qui parlent français, qui aiment la vie, qui aiment la poésie, la musique, qui aiment voyager... personas que hablan español, italiano, cualquier idioma, (me gusta aprender y conocer diferentes culturas y puntos de vista)... In short, any and everyone from whom I can learn... ...Maybe we can inspire one another...

Music:

Afro-Cuban All Stars, Manu Chao, Mongo Santamaría, Poncho Sánchez, Miguel "Angá" Díaz, Giovanni Hidalgo, Joe Cuba, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Grupo Niche, Tito Puente, Yerba Buena, Habana Abierta, Celia Cruz, Jarabe de Palo, Omara Portuondo, Cal Tjader, Pérez Prado,... Lhasa di Sela "con toda palabra"

Alex Giovanni Lebron - el bebé conguero

Life is Beautiful, Bringing Up Baby (hilarious!), Love in the Afternoon (I love Audrey Hepburn), Como Agua Para Chocolate (of course), The Scent of Green Papaya, American Beauty, What the Bleep do we know!?...

I also seem to have this strange fascination for zombie movies...Romero's trilogy, the remake of dawn of the dead, 28 days later (a very good film).
Here's an article about the zombie craze I found: zombie article

POETRY~
Pablo Neruda: XI

Short clip

Rainer Maria Rilke:

And then that girl the angels came to visit,
she awoke also to fruit, frightened by beauty,
given love, shy, in her
so much blossom, the forest
no one had explored, with paths leading everywhere.

They left her alone to walk and to drift
and the spring carried her along.
Her simple and unselfcentered Mary-life
became marvelous and castlelike.
Her life resembled trumpets on the feast days
that reverberated far inside every house;
and she, once so girlish and fragmented,
was so plunged now inside her womb,
and so full inside from that one thing
and so full " enough for a thousand others "
that every creature seemed to throw light on her
and she was like a slope with vines, heavily bearing.

(Selected Poems of Rainer Maria Rilke, tr. Robert Bly, p. 35)

André Breton:

L’union libre

Well, here I am back in the states and life is odd.  Just very surreal sometimes.  You know that feeling of irreality or surreality that surrounds you just before you take a long trip. ...
