The Commerce Comet!

About Me

I bring mad bling and Holla Fame style: 536 HR's, 20 All-Star Games, 12 AL pennants, 7 World Series rings, 4 AL HR titles, 3 MVP's, 1 Triple Crown, triple shots of Crown Royal, absolutely zero steroids and Absolut by the assload!
I hit the two longest home runs officially measured in a game, at least they're in the Guinness book: The 565-foot shot hit out of Washington's Griffith Stadium on April 17, 1953 garnered much publicity. The 643-foot homer hit out of Detroit's Briggs Stadium on September 10, 1960 was the longest home run measured to the spot where it landed. At Yankee Stadium, I hit the facade on the right field upper-deck roof three times in a game, and I hit three balls out of Yankee Stadium in batting practice. I hit 'em out all over the league, really. When I get into one of those 88-mph fastballs, you're gonna see some serious shit. "You swing from your ass and take your chances."
Game-winning home run vs. Kansas City's Bill Fischer, May 22, 1963

"The only thing I can do is play baseball. I have to play ball. It's the only thing I know." "I guess you could say I'm what this country is all about."
"During my 18 years I came to bat almost 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and walked maybe 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at-bats a season. That means I played 7 years without ever hitting the ball."
"I never saw him fight. I never saw Billy fight." "A body came flying out and landed at my feet. At first I thought it was Billy, so I picked him up. But when I saw it wasn't, I dropped him back down."
"You're not half as good as Mickey Mantle." "Kid, nobody's half as good as Mickey Mantle." -Kid to Al Kaline & Kaline's response
"The only way to get a better piece of chicken is to be a rooster." Ad slogan of Mickey Mantle's Country Cookin' restaurant
I Am a Martini!
