About Me

Hi there, My name is Guy Strauss. I am a session/touring drummer based in Atlanta. I guess this is the part where I try to prop myself up by listing a bunch of people I have played with, so here it is.....Latley I have been playing and/or recording with Tim Brantley, Aslyn, Michael Johns, Eddie Kirkland, I Nine, Juliana Finch, The Lordz, Arlington Priest, David Roland, The Marsh, David Berkeley, Claire Bradley & Mosey Walker .............Formerly, I was the drummer for the Tender Idols, & toured with Alice Peacock. If you are interested in more specific info about me read on. Many of the artists that I have worked with are on my ’Top Friends’ for easy access ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **** .............................MOST RECENTLY I have been recording and performing with an engaging singer/songwriter named TIM BRANTLEY who simply put is ’the real deal’ (but don’t tell him I said so). Great songs, and he has a voice that commands your attention. Tim Brantley is currently in the studio finishing up a new record due out in the summer of 2008. Some great people have been involved with the record, including John Fields who has done some stellar mixes of the songs. Check it @ MYSPACE.COM/TIMBRANTLEY..................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ........In 2006 I recorded drums out in LA for MICHAEL JOHNS, who is truly amazing singer, and I always thought that more people should hear this guy sing. Well it has happened, the folks at American Idol heard him sing, and he is now in the top 10. Congrats to him! His record is a great spin on the rock/soul thing & is filled with soaring vocals, hooks, horns & grooves. It was a reunion of sorts to worked with a dear friend and former Tender Idol DAVE COBB who produced the project. DAVE COBB is a natural musical talent, and has had some great success producing records for Shooter Jennings, The Rock and Roll Soldiers, The Shys, and an awesome posthumous record for WAYLON JENNINGS. MYSPACE.COM/MICHAELJOHNS.................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ...............................I recorded a song with I NINE for the Cameron Crow film/soundtrack ’Elizabethtown. The track was written by Nancy Wilson of Heart and Cameron Crow. The band even put my ugly mug in the video, check it out at MYSPACE.COM/I NINE. I NINE originally hail from South Carolina, but now reside in Atlanta. The buzz is well deserved, expect great things from them in 2008........................................................ ............................................................ .........................I plaed on the Rock Boat 2007 where I performed with an amazing artist named Aslyn. She captivated audiences with her unbelieveable voice. I had a great time and saw lots of great music... MYSPACE.COM/ASLYN........................................... .....................................................Juliana Finch has just released a beautifully crafted album, which I had the pleasure of recording drums on. The album titled ’How To Take The Fall’ has an emotoinal & eclectic atmosphere, which begs for repeated listens. Another Danny Howes production, perhaps his best to date. check it out @ MYSPACE.COM/JULIANAFINCH..............ARLINGTON PRIEST are a husband /wife duo who originally made a name for themselves on the Eddie’s Attic scene. I had the pleasure of adding drums to their compelling & emotional songs. The album ’Memory of Your Company’ has been receiving airplay all over the country, as well as on XM Radio. The fabulous Will Robertson doubled as producer and bassist on the project.......MYSPACE.COM/ARLINGTONPRIEST................... ....................................................THELORDZ are long time MC’s who have combined their love of punk, hip-hop and classic rock into an original & energetic sound. Infectious & groovy, this ain’t anything like rap metal. The album features guest appearances & collaborations with Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, Everlast, Bowling for Soup, & Bedouin Soundclash. The album ’The Boroklyn Way’ is out now on the new Howie Abrams label Perfect Game. It was another great Rusty Cobb production , and also featured the mean bass grooves of Tony Reyes. The Lordz also now have their very own TV sereies "the Brooklyn Way" which airs on the MSG network...Check it @ MYSPACE.COM/THELORDZ........................................ ...............................................THE MARSH.....Fearless, wild & vital. My youth has been revitalized by recording & performing with the Marsh over the last year. The early spirit of classic rock has been summoned and then twisted by the demented genius of Noah Pine in this organ/bass/drums trio. You just have to hear it for yourself, and the live shows have captivated and freaked people out all around Atlanta. Album out now, check them out at "A fearsome brave is the only way......................................................... ............................................................ .........For several years I have been working on a record of my own between gigs. The project is called FEATHERWEIGHT and features a cast of many of my talented friends including ROB ALDERIDGE, DANNY HOWES, DAVE COBB, ALICE PEACOCK, TIM SMITH, & BrYAN GIBSON. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for lending me their time and talent. I wrote all of the songs, played piano and drums, and ’produced’ the unabashedly artsy record which should be out this century, look out for some spam from me. It’s even on the myspace. check it out @ MYSPACE.COM/FEATHERWEIGHTMUSIC.............................. ............................................................ .................
