About Me
From Barreiro, Portugal, NEW MECANICA started in the summer of 1997, with Carlos and Walter on the guitar duty’s, Flávio on bass, Dinho on Vocals, and later Castanheira on drums. Under the name DRIFT AWAY, they’ve composed a few tracks with traditional Heavy Metal influences with a Gothic touch.
In 2000, the band retouches their sound, leaving a considerable set of tracks behind, and changes their name to RESET.
In January/February 2001, the band records their debut demo-CD in the Cabral brothers Boom Studios. The Demo is composed by three tracks: “S.Y.T.â€, “Breaking the Law†and “The Searchâ€.
After a few shows, the band records their second Demo-CD in November 2003 at Floyd Studios entitled “Freedom†with five new tracks: “Sorryâ€, “Freedomâ€, “ A Matter of Prideâ€, “Regret†and “Knowâ€. Produced by Nuno Loureiro and the band, “Freedom†reveals a more aggressive RESET and directioned to modern Metal edges. During 2004 e 2005, the band strongly promotes “Freedomâ€, being picked up for six music contests, won the 2nd place on the music contest in Anadia(Portugal), the shooting of “ A Matter of Pride†video clip and three tracks being include on the Bodyboarding documentary “Hotspotsâ€.
The year of 2006 was used to record a new CD. Entitled “Love and Hateâ€, the CD was finished in February 2007 and it’s composed by eight new tracks: “Rememberâ€, “Love and Hateâ€, “Riseâ€, “Lonelyâ€, “Fire Desireâ€, “Game of Liesâ€, “Lunacyâ€, “You and I†and it was produced by Daniel Cardoso (Headcontrol System, Del).
This work can be described as intense, energic, muscle, with catchy melodies, envolved by sensitive lyrics and steps the band into it’s most mature musical state yet.
During 2007, the band played several shows, won the 2nd place on the 3rd modern music contest in Setubal (Portugal), and tried to get “Love&Hate†CD properly signed with a record label but with no success. So in the year of 2008 and due to the fact that exists other bands with the same name, the band changes their name to NEW MECANICA and will release soon the "Love & Hate" CD.
