CHAYAH'S BIOGRAPHY: Pop R&B recording artist, singer and songwriter, Chayah (kai-yah) was born and raised in San Francisco, California. She is one of four children who comes from an extremely musical family. At the early age of five, Chayah began singing at church and continued to perform throughout elementary school and high school. During her sophomore year, Chayah was introduced to Narada Michael Walden, well renowned music producer. Walden then introduced Chayah to R&B soul artist Sakai, who went on to mentor, train, and develop her.As Chayah continued to develop with Sakai, she also continued to perform publicly for local fairs and events while in high school. She also began songwriting and soon after high school, Chayah began recording with local Bay Area producers and has since then continued to write, record, and collaborate with many independent artists locally and internationally.In 2002, Chayah performed in the Hip-Hop Talent Show held at the College of San Mateo and won 1st Place for Most Outstanding Artist. In 2003, Chayah went to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. It was there where Chayah began to develop her sound and songwriting skills. In 2005, Chayah won the American Idol Singing Competition at the Foothill College in Los Altos, California. This past December 2006, Chayah was awarded with two Muse’s Muse Awards for her song “Love You Boy” which won BEST POP SONG of 2006 and BEST POP PERFORMANCE in a POP SONG of 2006. Also in April 2006, Chayah’s song , ”LOVE YOU BOY” won the Face the Music Songwriting Competition at which songs were submitted for review by musicians, producers, and songwriters. ”LOVE YOU BOY” won the competition and was named “Best Commercial Song of 2006 and Most Likely to Succeed.”Chayah has also opened for pop recording artist Jesse McCartney, performed the National Anthem for the NBA Golden State Warrior’s opening game and has performed for several Radio Disney events such as their annual event, “Boo at the Zoo.” In 2005, Chayah was also the featured artist at the New York International Film and Music Festival which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. More recently, Chayah was invited to sing the National Anthem for the San Francisco Giants baseball game in San Francisco, California.Chayah is known for her smooth yet powerful voice. The minute one listens to her sing, it is most evident that she is one of a kind. Her smooth harmonies, versatility, musicianship, and melodic control caress her songs. It is through her spirit, her soul, and through her music and voice, that she will touch you the way she has touched many others.
