She cries. Her body changed forever. Between foundation and hydrogenating skin creams, she gets teary-eyed. She looks down between her feet and sheds tears, not pounds. Her husband assures her--child-bearing, age and weight are just the by-products of a great-life, yet her self-esteem is the lowest its ever been. Her friends recommend photography as the cure-all, not the typical tummy-tuck, face peel, lipo, botox or faddish diet.
More clearly put, photographic therapy are the words she hears, her friends say it's not only therapeutic, but an experience like no other, a graceful dance, a romance, titillating without the sex, a process that can rekindle the romance with her spouse of many years. She's in, let's do it, she says.
First she locates a photographer with experience, not just any photographer, but one that understands glamour photography, one of the hottest genres of photography thanks to celebrities taking over the precious, magazine-covers, real-estate once reserved for super models. In her quest, it must be a glamour photographer who understands the history of this genre, back to the Hollywood roots where photographers like Ruth Harriet Louise from MGM Studios in the 1920's would glamorize celebrities. A glamour photographer who knows the outer-beauty of a woman is the skin to the more precious inner-beauty, her soul, her self-esteem, her love, her fantasies, her charisma, her sexiness, seductiveness, sultriness and sensuality--her good life.
--an excerpt of Photographic Therapy, by best-selling author Rolando Gomez.
I'm a professional photographer (see www.rolandogomez.net ) and author of two photography books (see purchase section on the right side of this page) while featured in two more. Born a Texan and a creative person with boots. By the age of nine I owned my first camera and took typing by the age of 13--thus the photographer and writer in me. I believe in fate, but more important I believe in people and goals, though I know life can side-track those goals and I believe in forgiveness too.
I earned my Bachelor's in Communication from the University of Texas, San Antonio in 2001, summa cum laude at an age twice that of most people entering their first year of college--but that was my choice after turning down a scholarship in 1980 when I graduated from High School because of my passion for photography. I have five children, four of which are girls, and of course my favorite son is the fifth child who will probably outgrow Dad by 8-inches, at least that's what the growth charts indicate.
I believe in loyalty and will not jeopardize my integrity for anyone. You piss me off and I pay back twice as hard, something I learned from listening to Donald Trump. I believe in a marriage of the minds to create that perfect photographic smile--when the corners of the eyes are in perfect harmony with the corners of the lips. I believe the Internet is the Great Equalizer--I'm proof of that! I also believe we're not perfect, all humans make mistakes, I'm proof of that too! I believe you can't have love without passion, though you can have passion without love. I believe in sending her roses when she least expects it! I'm a gentleman, opening a car door won't kill any man. I know the difference between affect and effect, but I don't know who invented liquid soap and why?. I vote, I play, I work hard, I am that I am.
If you're a person wanting Photographic Therapy or Private Photography Instruction, please message me or go to my personal website for more information. You can also find my workshop and seminar information there. I've taught billionaires to millionaires, so while I like your money when it comes to payment, I'll always treat you with professionalism, but your money won't impress me unless you leave a helluva tip. (grin) You can read more about me on Wikipedia.com for references.
Yes, this is my official Myspace site and I'm a published photographer, author and writer. Besides working in almost 40 countries on photographic assignments, I discovered a Playboy Playmate (Holley Dorrough, April 06') and a Penthouse Pet (Jana Adams, Oct. 87'). While I'm proud of those lovely ladies, I'm also proud to have served my country for eight-plus years in the U.S. Army (active duty) as a soldier and was awarded the Dept. of Defense Meritorious Service Medal for my part in the Drug War in Central and South America. I've photographed presidents and beautiful models, but I always photograph from the heart--with passion. You can count on that! I don't do time for prints (TFP), my goal is time for publication if I ask you to pose for me. I charge by the day with at least three zeros in front of a whole number--I also have bills, see below.
A top literary agent for my Photographic Therapy (working title) book. Of course, Tom from Myspace. Second, Helen Hunt, as I love her charisma, Jennifer Aniston because no one's really captured her beauty yet, along with Warren Buffet for his intelligence. That aside, if you want to contact me about modeling, first, give me all the facts, including age and what type of modeling--don't forget contact information. Second, you must be 18 years of age. I don't do time for prints (TFP), my goal is time for publication--I have five kids to feed!
There is nothing that doesn't interest or intrigue me. I've traveled on assignment in almost 40 countries. I served my country proudly both in war and peace, I've seen death in Rwanda, been shot at on location and was highly decorated for my part in the Latin America Drug war (see my military awards on Wikipedia ).
I've walked with with three U.S. Presidents, witnessed the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the signing of the Peace Accords in El Salvador, just to name a few world events I've documented. I've emergency landed in a helicopter and even in a hot air ballon, not looking to repeat it in a plane. I've crossed the Internatinal Date Line and the Equator, both more than once--do toilets flush backwards on the other side? When you meet me I'll tell you.
Basically I'm open to almost everything, though I have my limits. My passion is photography, my other passion is women and their inner-beauty, though I'm not here to date.... I love to two-step and even do the spins and twirls, though I listen to all types of music. I'm a Leo and a Latin--beware, yes we're natural born leaders and we're certainly flirts, though we're compassionate and know the best way to treat your lady is like a lady--send her roses when she least expects them.
I have a big house, along with big payments, so don't ask me for anything for free. I had nothing when I was born, and if I have nothing when I die it's because it will belong to my children for their children. If you want to contribute, hire me! (grin)
I love salt-water aquariums, as they relieve stress. I love music, Tim McGraw to Matchbox 20 and even Soft Cell and George Strait, both Tim and George I've photographed so I'm a bit Country biased. I love the arts, especially photography. I enjoy television, though I don't have time to watch it. When I do make time, it's either a San Antonio Spurs NBA game (if I'm not shooting it at the AT&T Center, as I'm an NBA credentialed photographer) or What About Brian. My favorite movie, Cinderella Man --The James J. Braddock Story, that should speak volumes of my character.
My short-term goal is to make people happy with my photography and books, my long-term goal is build Photographic Therapy as a way of life. I also want to bring a National Arts Center to San Antonio for South & Central Texas--so if you're a philanthropist and want to donate, please contact me .
