urban tumbleweed music for lovers and wanderers

About Me

Southerner by birth, Yankee by socialization, Arielle Silver was born and raised on the East Coast with a suitcase packed to move. After years of busking in the Boston subways and freelancing as a clarinetist, she was picked up by Boston indie label Passion Records. Together with the composer/ label owner Chris Florio, Silver recorded 2 albums in 2 years. In Summer 2006, Silver and her band packed into their vegetable-oil-fueled van and toured the nation in support of her latest CD somethingprettysomethingtrue. They gained college/ AAA radio support from 76 stations and crossed the country 3 times.
Coming off of the whirlwind tour schedule and settling in with adventures from the road, Silver is dipping her feet in the Pacific, working on new songs and performing with her band in Los Angeles.

Performing Songwriter : Silver’s tough-yet-tender vocals move through the space where Lou Reed meets Chrissie Hynde, ensuring that Somethingprettysomethingtrue lives up to its name and then some.
***************************
Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange says: "Vocally akin to Chrissie Hynde with an Armatrading shade and powered by an impressive and expansive folk funk ala Dave Matthews, Silver's first full-length studio CD — recorded 'twixt rush hour and bedtime on Boston's south side' — deserves as much attention as we can manage to give it."
***************************
The Boston Herald says: Local singer/songwriter Silver first seduces with a rich, highly emotional voice. Though her arty, lyrical flair reflects Ani DiFranco, Joni Mitchell and even Jane’s Addiction, it’s a very personal modern rock approach. On her new, gorgeously produced CD, “Something Pretty Something True,” Silver even plays clarinet.
***************************
The Boston Globe says: "Lovely songwriting and arrangements"
***************************
Lancaster (PA) Barfly says: "On The Dashboard of a Shaky Car...a pastiche of finely tuned, female-fronted folk rock that hangs around the meeting point between Joni Mitchell, Beth Orton and Patti Griffin."
