About Me

MyHotComments
After being chosen by George Clinton as the first bass player for "The Parliaments" in the mid sixties, as a 16 year old musical phenom, Richard Boyce and his younger brothers formed a group called "The Admirations" also called "JoJo & The Admirers", who recorded on Hull Records. This sweet soul singing teenage doowop group that consisted of The Boyce Brothers, of Plainfield, NJ was extremely talented. The group, however, disbanded after young star, Frankie Boyce was tragically killed in combat at the age of 20, after being drafted into the Vietnam War. A few Years later, Richard formed his new group, "BAGS". In 1972, Richard Boyce's, "BAGS", featuring new lead singer also of Plainfield, a young, Glenn Lamonte Goins, released their first, funk/rock single on GSF Records, entitled, "It's Heavy", executive produced by Jerry Ragavoy. The 45 was backed on the B side with the underground classic, "Don't Mess With My Baby", a song written by Richard Boyce's brother, the late, James "Frankie" Boyce. Lead vocals were shared on "Don't Mess With My Baby" by group founder, Richard Boyce along with the late Glenn Goins. Richard plays an assortment of Fender Basses and trusts Pastore Music of Union, NJ to keep his favorite groove makers flowing like well oiled machines. Richard's current endorsements include Hartke Amps. The "BAGS" are one of the best kept secrets in modern day music history. Stay tuned, cause it ain't over yet!
