ROCK THE UNIVERSE

About Me

Welcome to KOREspace:
The MySpace home of the Kenny Olav Rock Experience (KORE).
Kenny Olav is a mollified wage slave who uses his allotted free time to rock the universe. He aspires to be a full-time Ambassador of Rock, using his talents and his four arms to rock every existing soul into a state of true freedom and happiness. His most excellent friend Jake has lent great assistance to this indispensable mission with his amateur, yet triumphant drum playing. The Kenny Olav Rock Experience seeks more comrades on this journey.

First off, I know that a lot of these tracks, especially Spring Water, are out of tune. I had a shitty guitar, alright?!
All of these tracks were recorded with a Tascam 4-track Portastudio, so they are very lo-fi. Guitars and vocals were recorded in my basement and drums were recorded at the Berklee College of Music with a limited time schedule. I recognize the production failings that currently exist and I consider these tracks to be blueprints for what could be if I had the time and money.
I have many more songs written, as well as an arsenal of guitar riffs.
Some info on the songs found on this profile:
Joyriding Thru Saskatchewan at 150kph in a '73 VW Fastback is unfinished. I plan on adding lead guitar to the 'verse' sections and an ostentatious chorus involving loud screaming about nothing important. After all, the word "akinol" that you hear me and Jake say at the beginning has no discernable meaning. It is just fun to say.
Television Ad Nauseum is the first song Jake ever played drums on and he had only been playing for about a month. Considering that, I think the drums sound pretty damn good and give it a Zeppelin-esque beat. I think this song has great potential. The lyrics need work, but I am proud of the riffage and guitar solo.
"Grunge is Dead" refers to what Courtney Love said in 1998, right around the time I saw the documentary 'Kurt and Courtney' which highlighted the theory that Kurt Cobain was murdered by a hit man hired by Courtney. This song was my immediate reaction. I still beieve the case should be re-opened.
"Bleeding Angel" is one of the first songs I ever recorded. So please forgive the singing and not-so-poetic lyrics and at least enjoy the raw guitar tone and emotive fury. It was written about an event that still haunts me to this day. In the dead of winter (I believe Jan or Feb '98) I experienced what scientists call the Old Hag Syndrome and what paranormal experts say is an attack by a spectre known as a mara and other names depending on the culture. The memory of this attack is still vivid, and I find the scientific explanation plausible, but unsatisfactory. I wrote this song shortly after the experience - and I'll let the song describe the details. About a year after it happened, I was shocked to learn that many others have witnessed the same phenomenon with strikingly similar details, and that it has been going on for centuries. I don't know how many others have written songs about it, but here is mine.
Here's a tune I began writing in August '06
It is tentatively titled Eulogy for Pluto
