About Me

Biographical Sketch: Shantram J. Hawkins was born Dec. 7, 1978 in Baton Rouge, LA. He accepted Christ at an early age. He has attended elementary, middle, and high school in the East Baton Rouge Parish school system. He is a graduate of Southern University- Baton Rouge, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He currently attends Slidell Baptist Theological Seminary. Shantram began his musical studies under the late Addie Mae Washington. At that time he realized that music was his soulful purpose. He started playing at the age of 13 under the leadership direction of the late Rev. Roosevelt Florida Sr. at the Little Zion Baptist Church. He furthered his musical abilities under Piano Virtuoso Pro. Myrtle David. Under her tutelage, he has received numerous noble accomplishments such as the Tourgee Debose International Piano Competition where he was a two-time winner, Southern University Young Artist Award, and Cynthia Neal Clemmons Memorial Academic Scholarship recipient, 2004 Essence Jazz Festival, he also appeared as the guest pianist for the International Food Competition, and several talent shows. He is known for his piano virtuoso and showmanship fusing classical, jazz, and gospel into his own unique style. Shantram currently resides in Chicago IL. His future goals are to become a major recording artist, producer, and obtain a Master’s degree in music.
