Come on, we'll bless them them all until we get vashnigyered!

About Me

Kirri. Relatively harmless. Grand Poobah of Rock Solid . Freelance writer, blogger and dating editor of Qwickly . I also pretend to be an author sometimes, but I have yet to churn out my blockbuster novel about debauched rockstars and their pretty playthings. A bloody great show-off, currently tramping around with the divine and saucy Lovelorn Living Party . An open book. Flying solo, at least for the time being. A woman with strong principles - apparently, that's rare. Creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky. I can also be pretty clumsy - along the way, I must've forgotten how to be graceful.
I try to avoid hurting people's feelings - because, well, that doesn't make anyone feel good - but i've been told that i'm forthright to a fault. I love meeting people from all walks of life. I was never insanely popular in school, but I think if I HAD been popular, I would've turned out much differently. I mostly like who I am. It's taken me a long time to be able to say that. I can get along with just about everyone, under one condition - play straight with me, and i'll play straight with you. I say what I mean and I mean what I say.
I'm the cliche`d country girl trying to find her feet in the big city, if you can call Newcastle big. I'm not exactly a country girl either, more of an in-betweenie suburban chickie. But it sounded good, didn't it? Like the blurb on the back of a book. Only...not.

I'd like to meet:

You know what? I'd like to meet a whole range of people. I'd be bored if I stuck with the same typical crew. I believe life should be about diversity and learning as much as you can, from as many people as you can. If we're going for specifics, I want to build up a support network with people who are driven by passion, have a warped sense of humour and want to make the most of every day in their lives. I also love meeting creative folks, and the term 'creative' can cover a hell of a lot. If you have fire in your belly...well, you should see a doctor about that. Alright, fire in the belly is good. It means you're constantly learning and evolving, and I love seeing that in people.

I spent a huge chunk of my life surrounded by negative, 'misery-guts' energy sappers. I used to be one of them. I don't have time for that. I'm attracted to people with positive energy. Look at us. Look what we can do! We're living in a world where our only limitations are those we place on ourselves. The important thing is not to fall behind, and you do that by not getting caught up in the stress and mundane bullshit that inevitably comes from life. Find at least THREE reasons - not just one - to smile and enjoy your day. Trust that karma and the universe have got your back, and they'll only send you into tricky situations if they feel you'll come out stronger on the other end.

Music:

A little from column A, a little from column B. I love a real mixed bag. I can listen to everything except thrash metal and emo. I've tried liking them but I just can't.

Movies:

I'm not very particular in what movies I watch - I don't often exclusively watch a certain genre. I love variety, as i've said before, so I could watch Ghostbusters one day and Give My Regards To Broad Street the next.

Television:

The Goodies, Will & Grace, Spicks & Specks, Thank God You're Here, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers, House, Medium, The Simpsons, The Sideshow, ER, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Spin City, Anatomy For Beginners (I have a strong stomach), Sex And The City, Scrubs, late-night SBS flicks and music docos.

Books:

I apparently taught myself to read as a wee lass; as a result, I like to read anything I can get my hands on, from novels to newspapers to cereal boxes.

LibraryThing (a constantly growing list of the books I own)

Heroes:

Read If... by Rudyard Kipling. You'll find my answer.

Take palm. Slap against face. Repeat.

#1 - Although I spent the better half of my day with a raging hangover, it certainly wasn't a quiet one. Within just one hour I witnessed two strangers scrounging through the wheelie bins of our apart...

The best laid plans

I've started a health and wellbeing regimen. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago, though my means of achieving this weight loss were by no means healthy. I decided while I was on holiday that ...

"We're all going on a summer holiday..."

After the hectic and brain-combusting first fortnight of January, it's a great relief to get away to a familiar place that brings peace. My family has been visiting South West Rocks (20 minutes from K...
