If you've ever been a part of the music scene in Sacramento, you've probably heard the name. If you're fairly new to the scene, you may say, "I've heard of those guys, my friend listens to them." But if your life in the scene began a while ago, your life has probably been impacted in some way by Shop 11 Phoenix.
Beginning in spring of 1999, the trio of Brandon, Aaron, and Anthony began practicing and molding themselves into punk rock machines. Whether playing at break-neck speeds or slowing it down for the occasional pop/punk anthem, Shop 11 Phoenix always reached for excellence.
Between 1999 and 2003, the trio constantly improved, released three records, and went on several national tours, meeting new fans all across the country. In late summer 2003, with their songwriting taking a technical turn, the need for a second guitarist arose. Their obvious choice was Aaron's cousin and long-time friend, Erik James, who filled the sound perfectly. Erik added to the energy of their live performance, and Shop 11 Phoenix's legendary shows began topping themselves.
They then headed into the studio for the first time as a four-piece to record four songs that were to be used for a split E.P. The songs were never released, but instead put online for a time. In Feb. 2004, for various reasons, Anthony stepped down from the band, and was replaced. Over the next year, guitarists switched in and out, and eventually the lack of solidity led to the breakup of Shop 11 Phoenix in October of 2004.
The original trio remained best friends over the years and had always talked about playing shows again, practicing once in a while, and falling apart. Things never fell into place for a reunion to work out. But now, with the pieces in place, SHOP 11 PHOENIX IS BACK!!! Tired of the trendy music that is over saturating the scene, Shop 11 Phoenix is choosing to play punk music because of its honesty and purity. Shop 11 Phoenix plays with passion and love... for the music, for the friendships, for the kids.
