I am here for Friends

About Me

I like the warm weather, beaches with palm trees and nice waves. I also like to ski, this presents a bit of a problem at times. Lately I have opted for the beach, with my special lady friend(she also likes the beach...very much.) I had been a vegetarian since 17, and recently stopped this, it's strange and exciting(for me, not the fish and animals).UPDATE 1/1/2007:I am approx. 98% veg. Many people who know me will find this very strange, and wonder if I'm alright...i am, i think? I sing in a band called cause for alarm, not to much lately though, but i miss this and hope to play again soon. I just celebrated my 41st birthday in the Bahama's with my slf(Cheryl), being 41 is interesting, and i feel quite good.Addition as of 10-11-2006:It has been almost two years since writing down this small description of myself, so I thought why not a little update. Cheryl and I are still a happy couple I have truly found my soul mate. We have been through quite a bit together including me almost bleeding to death out in the jungle of Costa Rica in the middle of the night! I have also grown in many ways (for the better I might add) and as with all growth at times it was frightening and painful. A number of events lead me to the abyss as Hesse or Jung might say and as I was standing at the edge looking in my world turned upside down, really it was as if I was falling through its eternal blackness. But for some of us it takes this kind of cataclysmic event to find our way back to awareness of our absolute eternal nature where we can be at peace and that peace emanates from within and is dependent on nothing material or external. I am on this path having fallen through the darkness into the light of consciousness, however I have a long way to go! At the darkest hour of this journey I met someone at work who gave me a copy of "The Power Of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. I was very skeptical but something deep inside told me to read this book. I'm glad I did because it resonated with so many things I was feeling, so many things I feared. I have spent a life time reading philosophical books, religious books...spent ten years of my life in the "Hare Krsna" movement. But this book hit the nail on the head for me as they say, no dogma, nothing religious or cultish, just a pure analysis and understanding of where our pain and suffering come from and more importantly how to stop the cycle. I will stop there because this is not a subject that can easily be put into words. I have gone from there to develop a real attraction to mindfulness meditation and Buddhism. My journey isn't over yet but certainly I have found that the path is the point, and all that really matters and all you will ever need is inside, heaven truly is there! God is there just waiting for us to wake up, just be aware. For me this awakening has made my relationship with Cheryl so sublime, no drama, insecurity etc...or when these things come up we sit with them in stillness and find the place they have come from in our cells and transmute them. My relationship with my children has also become so much better as well as with friends and family. Of course it's not perfect but now I really deal with feelings and emotions that arise, I don't just intellectualize them or bury them. Just a little update I wish you all the best in your life! Blessings!!
