I DO.. add people I know I DON'T... add random people, bands or singer-songwriters without a message first!
Mat. Woody. Woods. Mr. Wood. Woodster. Mattymoo. Mr. Moo. Mooster. I go by many names, but thank gawd there's only one of me, eh! Firstly, I love Girls Aloud (but I'm not gay), I love all things pop (see previous), I love a handful of chickflicks (ditto), I'm partial to a good night out on the town when I can, whether that be Envy in Camberley, Que Pasa, Jagz, Strawberry Moons, G-A-Y or various other venues in the local - or not so local - vicinity. It has been said that I like a drink or five - I love my cider (and have done for many a year, before it became "cool" to do so), specifically Strongbow, Magners, Westons and K Cider... am also partial to Jack Daniels & Coke and the best cocktail in the world - the Screaming Orgasm (Carbohydrate-tastic!). I've recently been introduced to a wonderful alcoholic creation known as "Ferrari Jack", consisting of a shot of JD and a shot of Amaretto. And nowt else, over ice. When in Edinburgh, drinking the above beverage meant I was referred to as "f***ing hardcore". Quite. I do like some - shall we say - more credible music (see the long list on the left), but certain artists sit uneasily next to one another in my rather large CD collection (e.g. Girls Aloud/Goldfrapp, Britney Spears/Brooke Fraser)... but variety is the spice of life an' all. I love my gadgets - Sky+ is quite possibly one of the best things ever invented, my two year old 60GB iPod is probably the best £300 I've ever spent, and my Nokia N95 is a slidy slinky telephonic wonder. I've recently splashed out and purchased my piano-black beautiful Samsung 32" LCD HD ready TV (ooooh!) so a Sky HD system is next on my hitlist. (Brace yourself, credit cards)I've been told I have no shame, something which I would probably agree with, but a better description would probably be that I care not what people think and I is what I is - warts/Girls Aloud and all! The combination of seeing live music in a number of rather cool and cosy music venues (Ginglik, The Troubadour, Komedia) and alcohol has caused a few potential embarrassments, namely falling a-kip in front of The Storys after one too many JD's (sorry lads!), nearly burning my forehead on a candle at a Thea Gilmore gig (she did NOT play "Mainstream", I swear!) and rather unfortunately missing the support act for Sarah Slean at the Troubadour after more than taking advantage of their 2-for-1 cocktail offer. Well, you only live once eh? I caught the live music bug (a very expensive/time consuming ailment) after seeing Jewel (before her 0304 debacle) - live at the Royal Festival Hall in 2002, and joining the (at the time) official Jewel messageboard. The rest - along with a rather ill-thought out relationship - is quite literally history! Many gigs, CDs and Strongbows later, and here I am in 2007 with a rather beautiful, amazing and talented girlfriend, even if I say so myself! :) Being a singleton for umpteen months (I was beginning to lose count!), the old adage of "Someone will come along when you least expect it" was beginning to tire a little, but it would seem that it does indeed ring true! *sigh* I've met some rather fab people along the way to add to my friends and acquaintences from college and the like... some of whom I've now known for three or four years (you poor souls!), purely through a shared love of music - and at the time, spending too much time on messageboards! And to boot, I know some of this fine country's most loveliest of musicians (in my humble opinion) - you know who you are, Ms. Pallot, Ms. Wadge and Ms. Neale. Alas, I'm still not on speaking terms with Nadine Coyle, but give it time!
To close - I'm all for meeting new people, but to be honest most of the people on my - rather carefully selected - friend list on here I've at least met, most I'm good friends with - and, unlike a lot of people's "friends" on Myspace, I actually know them in real life - where you can't say "lol" to fill an awkward silence in a conversation. Yes, I've even gone so far as to remove Girls Aloud and the Veronicas from my friends list. Shocker!
So yes, this is me. I don't need no good advice, I'm already wasted.
