Looking past the obvious distinction of coming from an Asian background, the three individuals who comprise the band Parts Per Million - Jay Ro, (vocals, guitar, violin), Josh Park, (bass, guitar), and Esther Na, (keyboards, vocals) - are continuing their journeys of self-discovery, but realize that they need not travel alone.
Currently the group is performing shows around the Houston area. Their first self-titled album is completed, with the band looking for label and talent representation. They are also preparing their next album, tentatively planned to be recorded and completed within the next several months.
PPM began as a joint project between frontman Jay Ro and bassist Josh Park met via mutual friends. Together they created an album from the songs that Ro had written. Upon completion of the album, drummer Andy Lee was invited into the band, and over the next several years PPM began playing shows around the area and establishing a reputation as being a high-energy, catchy-as-all-get-out band. Keyboardist Esther Na later joined the band, adding a whole new dimension of sound. Recently, drummer Lee resigned from the band due to personal commitments, but the band has been able to continue performing live with session drummers.
Keyboardist Esther Na is a self-taught keyboardist who has been for over 15 years playing with music worship teams at churches. Bassist Josh Park is an accomplished and excellent audio engineer and guitarist as well as having close to 20 years of music performance and ensemble experience. Singer/guitarist Jay Ro has over 20 years of classical music experience (he was concertmaster of the Purdue Symphony Orchestra & soloist winner at the Keller Symphonic Competition) and has 15 years of vocal and guitar experience.
