About Me

Born in rural Oregon, Brandi Shearer's singing career began by entertaining her grandmother with versions of "Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue" and "Isn't It Romantic" played by numbers on a Sears Roebuck electric piano. Later, she moved to Europe where she learned about Billie Holiday and singing effectively in front of drunken audiences. French girls taught her to artfully apply makeup and wear her hair just so. She sang in bars, clubs, festivals& living rooms across the continent until landing in Hungary. After some time spent living the expatriate life, she returned to the States to pursue a career in music on her native soil. That's the music story. In other news, she's an exceedingly lucky person and recently won three hundred and twenty seven dollars playing blackjack. She used the money to buy dog food.

And Behold! Another Tour!

Well, I missed writing travel blogs SO much that I'm going on tour again. Because somewhere out there in America, there is someone who's gonna try to light me on fire, or steal my stuff, or ask for my...

The End of the Road: Frozen Iowa.

First, you have to imagine: 4 AM, air very still, temperature hovering right at zero, and all that extraordinary night-time ambient light that exists when the world is covered in snow. Then add: the M...

Endless Plains and The Perils of Breakfast.

I'm learning, among a heap of other things, that hotel internet is a fickle mistress. This morning, that means that I had to bring my computer down to the "dining area" at the Hampton Inn to update th...

Photo Evidence.

Thanks to Jim, who is 10 times smarter than me, we have some pictures of the tour so far. I will try to illustrate each with an appropriate caption. This particular club was evidently in the middle of...

Seattle! (And Points Before)

Well, here is another late night blog, folks. Sometimes I revisit these highly nocturnal writings and I think - damn, does my good grammar expire at midnight or WHAT?In any case, let me catch you up: ...

Back In The Saddle.

That's right. I've been (mostly) silent, eaten 5681 slippery elm lozenges, went to a specialist, sat with my head over a bowl of steamy water for two days straight and change-o presto, I am renewed. W...

My Old Friend New Orleans . . .

I'm so disappointed I couldn't sing for you last night. The club was beautiful, and New Orleans is beautiful, and it meant a lot to me to come here and play for you, finally after all this long time! ...

Oh No. OhnoohnoohnoohNO NO!

My confession:It started out as a tickle in Jacksonville, and grew to an ouchy but ignore-able ache in Birmingham, but each show has gotten more and more dicey and now, here I am the morning of my muc...

Memphis and The Little Woman in The Computer Who Hates Me.

Well, there are a lot of things I'm learning on this tour. Not just stuff like how to ferret out Laundromats and how to incorporate something resembling exercise into the time it takes to fill the gas...
