About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4I've heard that Buddhist Monks sit for days creating elaborate, colorful sand paintings, all the while fasting... each grain of sand having a very significant, specific place in the big picture... like all of us would love to believe is true for ourselves... then, after the masterpiece is complete, they wipe the sand painting into the wind... This is how I feel lately... like I am a grain of sand that will someday be lost to the wind... Mother Nature and the Path of the Fractals plotting my demise -- unpredictable from my perspective, yet inevitable. It's more about the journey than the destination, though. Appreciate every moment and every breath... that meteorite or earthquake or super volcano or an unfortunate encounter with chaos on the road could happen tomorrow... and then what? "What's your contribution to LIFE?" ~J5 As a grain of sand in this vast universe, what am I doing to help us evolve as a whole? (o:

Music:

DIGABLE PLANETS - "BLACKITOLISM (9TH WONDER)" Well, besides the MIchigan cats in my top friends: A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Madlib, Aceyalone, Zion I, Blame One, Common, Dead Prez, The Coup, Pharroah Monch, Jean Grey, Bahamadia, Erykah Badu, Pete Rock, DEL and Hieroglyphics, Digable Planets, Digital Underground, Das EFX, Black Sheep, De La Soul, Gang Starr, Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Portishead, Esthero, Mono, Massive Attack, Amon Tobin, and much much more...My father influenced me in jazz and classical, while my mother influenced me with classic/progressive rock. I grew up listening to hip hop and r&b on the radio, but around 93/94, I started listening to alternative rock, which eventually sent me back in time to where I only really listened to classic rock all through high school (95-99).It wasn't until after I graduated that I was reintroduced to hip hop... but this time it was the underground gems that I was being exposed to; not the radio rap crap that had taken over the mainstream by then. I got on a lot of groups late, like Outkast and Wu Tang (still not really familiar with the WU like I should be), but I'm still learning... I'm one of those kids who always loved all of Jay Dee's music, but never knew who he was until a few years ago. I didn't get on Slum V at first because I thought their sound was biting Tribe's sound too much... never knowing about the Jay Dee association with both groups. It's a shame that I didn't know about him sooner. That's probably how a lot of us feel now, too. {RIP J Dilla}
