With many eyes focused on the growing Minnesota music scene, most of the focus has been on bands from Minneapolis. However, an acoustic band from 70 miles south of the Twin Cities is quickly becoming one of the top players in the state, and helping to make Mankato a bright spot in the National Scene.
Since their conception in August of 2005, the Evermore Escape has stood atop the Mankato, Minnesota local music scene. Brandon Daly (of Vanilla Villan and Better off Tomorrow) and Braden Ashworth (of Asomewhatfarewell) decided to start a new project dedicated to an acoustic sound. To make their music truly unique and original, they enlisted the help of Jimmy Chaos, a celebrated Violin player. Over the next two years, they found instant success and many eager fans with the release of their first two albums, 2005's "The Setting of Sails and Sons", and 2006's "Trace the Night."
When 2006 came to a close, in an effort to keep their sound fresh and original, they decided to take their music to the next level by adding a rhythm section. The Evermore Escape changed from an acoustic Trio and became a full forced Quintet. They enlisted the help of longtime friend, part time roadie, and full time musician Tom Speckel to play drums. They then brought in Marc Richmond, the former bassist for band Faully and friend from their many shows together in the local scene to play bass.
Now one of the top bands in their region, they are making waves in the Minnesota music scene, not only performing with countless local favorites, but also sharing the stage with such celebrated National acts as:
Quietdrive (Epic Records),
Dropping Daylight (Octone Records),
This Providence (Fueled by Ramen Records),
Lucky Boys Confusion (formally of Elektra Records),
Treaty of Paris (Airports Tapes and Records),
Love Arcade (Atlantic Records),
The Dog and Everything (Orange Betty Records)
With a new, full length LP in production as well as a National tour in the works for the summer, look for 2007 to be one the best years ever for The Evermore Escape.
