About Me

Tale of Two Towns is the story of four best friends from New Ulm, MN with big dreams and a love of music.
The music union between Eric Ellingson (vocals/guitar), Steve Sveine (drums), Sam Sveine (bass) and Joey Verschaetse (guitar) came together after the dissolution of three different groups. Eric recruited brothers Steve and Sam, who'd been playing in numerous projects already, in order to convert his former acoustic project into what it is today. They later added Joey after his original group disbanded.
"We've had great chemistry since the first time we played together," says Steve. "We became friends through music and we want to do this as long as we can and take it as far as we can."
Tale of Two Towns is a spellbinding blend of numerous indie-rock styles. Their work is mellow along the lines of Sharks Keep Moving and melodic like a dreamy hybrid of Circa Survive and Mogwai. Ellingson's vocal range floats somewhere between that of Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Minus the Bear's Jake Snyder.
"In March," says Steve, "we decided to change styles of music. We went from acoustic-pop to indie-rock and this transition was not an easy one."
Tale of Two Towns recently released their debut EP, Whales & Letters.
