ANU~SUN'S BIO:Its ANU day dawning in Hip-Hop and as major labels struggle to find their way through the NU world, the independent scene continues to thrive. One such artist reaping the benefits of independence is Anu~Sun. Anu is a BMI artist/ songwriter whose music offers an eclectic blend of Hip-Hop, Soul and Jazz. Being a drummer and godson of Jazz legend Lionel Hampton one can understand why Anu’s love for music runs so deep. In 2006 Anu’s music video “Soul Brotha” was included amongst the awardees for “Top 50 videos of 2006” by BETJ. Anu has also performed shows with such reputable artist as A Tribe Called Quest, Dwele, Bilal, Talib Kweli, Amel Laurrieux and Raheem DeVaughn. Anu and his band have also played numerous private events for Mark Ecko Enterprises and Scion.
In a time where musicians must find innovative ways to fund their projects, Anu has managed to fund his 2006 debut cd “Bohemian Chocolate” and music video “Soul Brotha” through performance proceeds, sponsorship and bartering. The artist’s efforts have yielded an increased buzz amongst peers and a reputation as one of the more reputable acts in New York’s underground scene.
As the completion of Anu’s sophomore project “Anu’s Minstrel Rebellion” draws near early listeners are expressing excitement over the Artists funk influenced sound. When asked about the projects direction Anu referred to it as sort of a Jimi meets Bootsy, with Dilla on drums and A Tribe Called Quest on the mic type vibe. The video for the cd’s debut single “Cum & Get It Gurl” is scheduled to premiere on BETJ’s “Soul Sessions” early 2008. Need a break from the same old same? Then come along for the ride as Anu sets it off on the left and FUNKs up the “M&M” (Minstrel Mainstream).
Right on the real Death to the Quantized!SIZZLE!!!
