My Interests

I recently discovered that the world is my oyster and that I still have so much to experience and learn in this lifetime. But for now, my interests include people with big hearts and good souls, art in all its manefestations, travelin' to new horizon: physically and mentally (next stop BRAZIL!!), strengthening the bonds of family and friendships by creating positive experiences even when things are mad crazy, and learning more about myself in respect to the ever changing world. I am also learning how to love unconditionally and unselfishly. I still have things to discover about myself and I now finally feel empowered from within to do just that...MUCH RESPECT AND LOVE!Other things that peak my curiosity: Advocacy of the Arts, Beauty beyond the Beholder's Eye, Canadian (way of life), Eternal Friendships Growing, Humanity, Ice Cream (cHocoLaTe...Mmm!), Justice, Love of "MY" Life, Moonlit Nites, Open-Mindedness, PEACE, Quasars, Star-gazing, Tolerance, Universal Love, Virtual Realities, Woman's Work, Xenodochial Hospitality, Youth empowerment, Zion

all the REAL PEOPLE! Men and Women who are open to learning and growing in all aspects of the human essence; who don't allow life to simply pass them by; and who can handle a woman who speaks the truth of her heart and mind. Those who can't hang need not apply.

Music:

I enjoy all types of music...soul, golden era hip-hop, jazz, broken beat, house,r&b...it just really depends on what I'm in the mood for. When I feel like a "WiKKed Lil' gRRRL" (especially when I'm out with my girls!), I jam to Esthero, Sade, Chrisette Michele, Dwele, Les Nubians, Slum Village, Aloe Blacc; Remy Shand, Bobby Caldwell, Maxwell, & Janet when I'm jus' jonesin' (which could last all day!!); Lauryn Hill, Goapele, Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys, & Gwen Stefani for inspiration and empowerment; Common, Donnell Jones, Talib Kweli, tHe Mighty Mos, & the Roots when I'm in the mood to listen to men (with SENSE =P); Zap Mama, Elisa, Angelique Kidjo, Bebel Gilberto, Gabor Szabo, the prophet BOB, & Bill Withers, Isley Brothers, John Coltrane when I need to relax and have nothing else cloud my senses; but sometimes, only Linkin Park, Evanescence, Panic! at the disco is what I need to get by. Then again, I can always listen to Etta James...which makes me think of that wonderful Sunday kind of love...and nothing makes me smile more...check out my lil' cousin...she has a voice on an angel...

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND is here and the sun is out so welcome THE PEOPLE "Daytime Summer Sessions" as we kick things off starting at 5PM w/a LIVE PERFORMANCE from FIYAWATA, BBQ & Appetizers from Chef Florida & Chef Anita, Live Art, Vendors, and a not to be missed dancefloor ripping set by New York's very own IAN FRIDAY! Check the technique... Memorial Day Weekend starts at THE PEOPLE! Now on to your regular broadcast... ;)

This is what APRIL looked like when we all GOT UP and GOT DOWN together at The People!

Peeps, the secret is out. There were mad folks in the spot last month. Love and respect to everyone who came through. Sometimes when a gathering gets past a certain size the vibe changes. People stop dancing. Folks don't stop to talk to eachother but not at THE PEOPLE. Uh ah, no, honey! There's something about the people who come to THE PEOPLE that makes it feel all fun-and-family (like when grandma busted out the freeze pops and the slip 'n' slide in the backyard). Shouts out to Linda, Bushmama, and Anita the Lumpia Lady. As you now know world class party rockers are the rule at THE PEOPLE. Capitol A brought fire to the dance floor and put his stamp on the evening with a little vocal styling. This month we welcome New York's own Ian Friday. Ian's last Bay Area appearance left people completely exhausted from uncontrollable dancing. I heard they had to take one lady to the acupuncture clinic because her face was stuck in a permenent smile. It's fitting that Ian is the first DJ to bless the inaugural THE PEOPLE Daytime Summer Sessions. The festivitaays start at 5pm. There will be live performances, live art and BBQ provided by the illustrious Chef Florida. Enjoy some sun on the porch while you grub or grab a spot on the open air dancefloor where you can convert sun light into a two step. Play it how ya' like.
