Stone Devil Hill has finally arrived, and they're ready to make their mark on the local music scene. A Poughkeepsie based metal/rock band, they have a new guitar player, singer, songs and attitude. The days of Eight By Ten are over and it's time to move on.
One of the new guys in the band is Mr. Steve Hanson. I know what you're thinking, how could they accept him with that last name. The answer is pretty simple, his guitar playing is phenominal. The fact that he can incorporate his influences ( mostly heavy and speed metal ) into their music, makes them that much stronger. He has a serious love for just playing the guitar, and it shows in his skills. Speaking of which, Danny is pounding away harder and better than ever. He's put a lot of different ideas and thoughts on the table, towards the newer stuff. His general passion and heart for their music is something that's hard to find nowadays. Steve, whom most of you know as STICKBOY, has also matured more during the bands time off. He's been taking a more simplified, yet effective approach towards the new material. Then there's EJ, who is now taking a step back from the mic, so Donovan can do his thing. He had been widening his vocal range over the past 19 months to add a little something different to the sound, but since Donovan has re-joined the band he's been more than happy knowing he'll be doing harmonies and overdubs, so he can bounce around on stage. His heavy Hetfield -like singing style will be missed, but it's for the best. I assure you his backing vocals will have the same raspy gutt wrenched feeling as did his lead work. And for the final piece of the puzzle, returning from his year long sabatical, Donovan. His voice can simply be described as unique. His strong vibrato is somewhat Dickenson sounding and his low melodic tones can't be easily compared to anyone off the top of my head. He brings a well needed element to the band that is sure to make them a force to be reconned with. His and EJ's singing styles are completely different, but at the same time make for some interesting harmonies. It might take fans some time to get used to Donovan's voice, but it does more than just suit the music. He puts a lot of passion and emotion into his singing, as you will see once he takes the stage.I'll end on this note: Stone Devil Hill is about to make one hell of an impact on the local scene. Make sure you check them out, you won't be disappointed...
