A 2nd Class Stamp Arrives Wiser For It's Journey

About Me

::: things i do :::
I co-run a night here in Nottingham called "Ambush", its a Breaks/Hip-Hop/D'n'B/Mash-up/Remix night. I honestly think it has the potential to be Notts best night, as we are willing to try any genre where-as most nights are fixed.
I just finished the first year of my Multimedia degree and have chosen my modules for next year: Design, Web design & A/V Production.
I'm really looking forward to starting these modules, hopefully i can use the technical skills to work as a cameraman for a few years them perhaps move onto cinematography... But thats a few years down the line!
Still living in peaceful Radford, where people often get stabbed, cars set alight and where you can expect something (gone off milk or a bag of vomit) to be thrown through a house window if you've been STUPID enough to want to open it... Its not that bad here. Honest.
::: the stuff that makes me cool by association :::
A friend bought this to my attention, basically all that i love of my music life comes from 5 seconds from one song.
(watch this video - its 19mins, but WORTH it)
This is Venetian Snares, with an orchestra (i forget which), but i reckon you'll agree that they rock
This is Butters, our cute cat:
My 1 min narrative for uni. Quite happy with it, but everyone's their own worst critic right?
This was for a small programming module of my course, have a play, my grid reference is J2 (click link below picture).

My Interests

::: what takes up my time :::
Music, films, world cinema, photography, animation/cartoons/anime, japanese culture, cooking, going out to clubs/free parties, technology (i can get a bit geeky), travel...

I'd like to meet:

::: i'm fond of :::
People who have an idea of their own.
People who like going out to bars/clubs/free parties to have fun whatever they're on!
People who can teach me about things i never knew exsisted.

Music:

::: what i listened to last week :::

click here
to see what else i have listened to recently...
Basically, i'm a person who actually likes all types of music (as opposed to those who CLAIM that, and then list 20 indie bands - all "the" bands i might add - and then one or two DnB artists or crappy RnB, which apparently makes their taste diverse).

::: how i got to what i like :::
I went from listening to my sisters Rave music when growing up,
onto listening to Hip-Hop, Big Beat, Dance etc,
then i'm sure the angst of youth took over and i started listening to Rock, Metal, Punk, Emo etc.
When i moved away from home i drew some inspiration from friends and got into Drum n Bass, Dub, Jungle, Electronica, Techno etc etc...
But having been subjected to years of crap radio and music videos has also got me into Bootleg, Bastard Pop, Remix and Mash-up
Here's the skinny on what mash-up is about

Movies:

::: film :::
I'm a fan of Japanese directors, and lose more of the little faith i have with hollywood with every remake, but also like french and spanish films too...
I spent a while doing my music choices so i will update this with my favourite films when i have the time!

Television:

::: the comedy i enjoy most :::
Monkey Dust,
Bromwell High,
15 Stories High,
Peep Show,
Empire Square,
Ideal,
Nighty Night,
(Any chris morris),
Black Books,
Spaced,
Blackadder,
Red Dwarf,
Game On,
Alan Partridge,
Father Ted,
Mighty Boosh,
Look Around You,
Adam & Joe,
Two Pints Of Lager & A Packet Of Crisps,
Time Gentlemen Please,
Bottom,
Saxondale,
TMWRNJ,
Modern Toss,
Green Wing...
I also like some US comedy, but its the usual list of Simpsons, Futurama, Malcolm In The Middle, Family Guy, Scrubs, Firefly...
Other than that i don't really watch alot of tv. Unless theres a decent channel4 or BBC documentary on, and neighbours (a guilty pleasure!).
::: the anime i enjoy most :::
Chobits,
Full Metal Alchemist,
Serial Experiments Lain,
Cowboy Bebop,
Last Exile... To name but a few.

Books:

::: i sometimes read :::
Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy (prior to the film).
Googlewhack!
Every manga i have spent hours reading trying to understand the miniscule references and unknown social twists.

Heroes:

::: influences :::
Dave Gorman, for his ability to finish any insane adventure he starts.
Bill Bailey, for his musical dexterity and sharp wit.
Simon Pegg, for the tears of laugher.
Chris Morris, for making me never trust anything without obsurd amounts of scrutiny and tangenting (is that a word?).
Dylan Moran, for his bitterness!
