You are invited to join us for our weekly meditation group for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Questioning communities. Our intention is to deepen our experience within the Vipassana meditation practice as an LGBTQ community exploring mindfulness and awareness for cultivating an open heart in our everyday householder lives.
Beginning meditation instruction is offered one Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm, followed by the regular meditation at 7. Check the EBMC web site for details.

About our teachers
Larry Yang leads meditation retreats nationally and has an interest in making the wisdom teachings of the Dharma accessible for LGBTQ communities and Communities of Color. He is trained as a psychotherapist and consults in cultural diversity. Larry is a Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader and is mentored as a teacher by Jack Kornfield. He has recently returned from a six month practice period in Southeast Asia as an ordained Buddhist monk under meditation master Ajahn Tong, with travels in Thailand, Nepal and India. Shahara Godfrey has followed the Teachings of the Buddha for over ten years with her primary practices in Compassion and Social Activism. She is currently in the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leaders training program and is a member of the New Dharma Meditation Center for Urban Peace in Emeryville.
Phyllis Oscar has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1989 in Thailand, India, and the U.S. and has completed Spirit Rock's Dedicated Practitioner's Program. Phyllis currently serves as Co-Chair of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship's Board of Directors and is involved in addressing diversity issues at BPF. Phyllis lives in Bernal Heights (SF) with her partner, Tatiana, and their tall, orange cat, Sydney.
