It's a story that's been told a million times before: some kids, disillusioned by the state of modern music, get together and form a band. They play a handful of covers to a largely inattentive audience, and subsequently disband, further disillusioned about, well, everything. It's a story that Chris and Adam know well, after spending the last five years playing in dead-end groups round and about their home town, coming offstage bored and frustrated as they watched bands that couldn't hold together a tune being snapped up by labels, and heard more and more floppy-haired, skinny-jeaned drivel on the radio. It's a story that is all too common...but theirs hasn't quite finished. In mid-2006 Chris, along with Adam and his brother Simon, put their last band - GlassHouse - on hiatus. With university and family commitments looming, and a general dissatisfaction with the acoustic shows the band had become known for, the trio forgot about the band and got on with their lives. However, everything was to change in August of 2007.After stumbling upon a video of a local band performing a terrible original song, and seeing them being lavished with praise, a fire was ignited in the bellies of the three ex-band members. Arrangements were made, duties were put on hold, and Adam, Simon and Chris began the arduos task of rebirthing their band. Chris wrote furiously everyday, churning out over twenty-five original tracks in as many days, while Adam and Simon went on the hunt for a suitable drummer to back up their new style. After weeks of searching, Danny appeared. The newly formed quartet met in the practise room, and, within days, ripped through a vast amount of original material: huge, anthemic choruses; dark, sweeping riffs; schizophrenic chord-changes and punk aggression blended together until even the band members were amazed by how the songs had come together. Equipment was hastily purchased, loans were taken out, shows were booked - the quiet fire burned stronger than ever.
Now, with new-found conviction and determination, The Quiet Fire are pushing forward to make themselves heard. They may still just be four local youngsters playing in a band together; they may still be disillusioned with music and their peers; they may still just be a story that's been told a million times before......but it's sometimes the stories that have been told the most that make the best legends.

Please note, the Quiet Fire are not to be confused with soul R&B outfit Quiet Fire (www.quietfiremusic.com) - although a future duet is definitely on the cards.
