Things that give me bliss:playing pool with 8boy (more accurately, WINNING) live music live DJs tearing up a dance floor photographing the talented people I love in their element good photos of myself (photo by Karolyn Veselka) decade specific culture and fashion, particularly, 1920s, 1950s, and 1980s books comics camping movies with Gary Oldman drag kings boys who look like girls girls who look like boys hugs the involuntary occurrence of a completely lost memory being retrieved, the surprise of its existence Indian food poetry written for me turtles tattoos on the backs of a person's arms a good vintage find in a thrift store the way thrift stores smell smelling things, especially a shirt that a lover has worn all day secrets Dr. Who episodes with Tom Baker as the Dr. making ends meet, and fantasizing about them overlapping fantasizing about making music um, fantasizing, daydreaming, stargazing nice people who completely lack pretension pretentious people who end up being beautiful inside writing poetry reading my poetry to my friends painting on small canvas with acrylic my friends, going on 10 years with most of them having a job I love homemade gifts watching my daughter dance, drum, do yoga my sons bringing me lizards, frogs, and random kisses deja vu epiphanic moments that occur resulting from some really intentional self-examination crushing to the point of heartache (this happens on an almost daily basis) watching martial arts, specifically NHB fighting a great workout The Dark Crystal my niece, baby Charlotte Thai food dancing at the Gallant Knight to the Klockwork Band these messages that one of my best friends leaves me about twice a week singing songs by such talented artists as Poison, Jim Croce, Loretta Lynn, and more the way seawater looks at night mothers who breastfeed really funny shit having HUGE parties in my house my dad and brothers playing guitar together cooking with my wok, which I've had for seven years, perfectly and beautifully seasoned not cooking being cooked for giving someone a compliment and having it be well-received raising and loving three conscientious, exceptional (not to mention really fucking cute) human beings loving this boy
