Juri Koshikawa, better known as DJ Princess Cut, is the worlds only Japanese female chop & screw DJ. "You wouldn't expect a DJ form Wakayama Japan to be on top of the southern hip-hop scene, but Princess Cut who moved to Dallas a few years ago is clearly an exception"- Jeremy Miller C.E.O. of Source/Down magazines. The late great DJ Screw (R.I.P) is one of her biggest influences, he pioneered the Texas style of slowed down music and his legacy lives on. PC is trying to have the whole world "Screwed Up." She is the first DJ to actually chop and screw in front of a Japanese audience, and she is known as the 1st Lady of Screw Music. She is also influenced by the King of the South, Pimp C (R.I.P.). He felt her swag and wanted to sign her to his UGQ Record Label before his recent passing. Underground Queens or UGQ started out as a 100% southern female mixtape back in 2005, it earned her rave reviews in the Source and Ozone Magazines, wich helped her become the Southern Entertainment Awards Female DJ of the Year, and caught the attention of her mentor Pimp C. "From Texas to Japan we bringin it all together"- Pimp C
She is the bridge from Texas to Japan and put out a mixtape through Universal Japan entitled "Down South Hustlin"(2007). This 100% south CD sold over 20,000 units in a market where southern artists are rarely heard. It featured her single "Dallas Mic Pass" a collaboration of top dallas artist, and helped put the city that she loves on the map. It was such a sucess Universal Japan signed her up for another compilation simply entitled "Hustlin"(2008) that is on sale now.
Her Bout 2 Blow Mixtape series is comprised of real Texas artists, and it is a double disc, but the screw side is the main attraction. It has been hosted by artists such as Chingo Bling, ESG, Trae the Truth, TumTum, and Lil Flip and is currently working on her 4th installment. Every CD she makes comes with its own custom intro that embodies the title of the mixtape using relevant samples and beats. She wants to make music that will last forever and not just one night.
Her international marketability and stunning good looks have landed her countless endorsement deals. The most recent was from a Dallas based company called Yums Shoes. They are currently in the works on designing her own custom PC shoe line, along with a custom T-Shirt line, PC New Era caps, and a promotinal tour complete with billboard and all. She is the official Yums DJ/ spokesmodel and has released 3 mixtapes and a music video with them.
She has recently completed her month long Japanese tour sponsored by Numark and Universal Japan and made it back to Dallas. She played nothing but southern rap when her fellow Japanese DJs were still stuck on the east coast, west coast beef stuff. She was not afraid to break southern artists and the fans loved it. She was like a breath of fresh air to the crowds who have been listening to the same couple songs for 20 years. She spun in the biggest club in Asia called Ageha, the other DJs said the south wouldn't work there and she needed to water it down, but she kept it 100 and the crowd loved her for it. Along with the tour came interviews and photo-shoots from countless Japanese magazines, websites, radio stations, and TV shows. She is no stranger to the japanese media either, for years she has written articles in Japanese magazines and websites such as Cisco Records column "Don't mess with Texas", Tight magazine column "Down South Swangin'', Amebreak column "Quit Hating the South" and many others. All these columns are giving Japan a clear view of what really goes down in the South. Texas has taken notice by featuring her on the cover of "Quick" magazine and recently had a segment on "La Vida"(WFAA channel 8)
She currently in the works for another deal with a Japanese label as a producer. Her latest work entitled "Sip-A-Lot Classics" breaks the mold of a screw tape, and she slows down classic artists such as Al Green, Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Jimi Hendrix, and all the old school legends. It is a free promotional download helping her get nominated for the SEA best chop&screw award. Listen to it and vote!! She will continue to break the South using her screwed up mixtapes, magazine columns, and producing them southern bangers.
