Meg's Bio

About Me

Musician and collector. After graduating from university, I ended up being a corporate office slave for a few years before I took up work as a freelance researcher and writer for an on-line music magazine. Recently completed a Diploma in Music Industry Business full-time. Currently working for a booking and management agency, and writing a book.

My Interests

Guitar, music, movies, books, red wine, going to gigs, dining out, coffees, or relaxing. My bedroom is swamped by albums and books at the moment.

I'd like to meet:

Networking with other like minded musicians, promoters, managers, and collectors. Led Zeppelin fans.

Music:

I keep an eclectic ear open to all styles however my first love has always been blues based guitar rock, mostly from the late 1960s onwards.

Movies:

Lord of the Rings trilogy, Crossroads, Tommy, Alice's Restaurant, Almost Famous, Born to Boogie, Gimme Shelter, Homer, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, Pink Floyd's The Wall, This Is Spinal Tap, The Decline of Western Civilization: Part II, The Metal Years, The Blues Brothers, The Doors, Festival Express, The Song Remains the Same, High Fidelity, The Last Waltz, Rock n Roll Circus, Rock Star, Wayne's World, Dazed and Confused, Roadie, Some Kind of Monster, 200 Motels, More Bad News, Woodstock.

Television:

Prefer watching DVDs with friends. I do however support community television such as Channel 31 TVS in Sydney. Asylum is a great little programme along with Wrokdown and Saturday Concert Hall.

Books:

Almost all music biographies. I've always loved J R R Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Heroes:

Janis Joplin, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore, David Gilmour, Rory Gallagher, Alvin Lee, Frank Marino, Leslie West, Jeff Buckley, Carlos Santana, Chuck Berry, B. B. King, Robert Johnson, Albert King, Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf. Too many to mention here.
