About Me

The 1992 gutters of various streets in the San Francisco Bay Area gave birth to Lipstick Addiction. Veterans of the local rock scene, the members of Lipstick Addiction joined forces to create the musical backdrop for the chaotic environment that surrounded them and derived their sound from whatever they understood around them. Sometimes raw, often uncontrolled, and always full of energy and pandemonium, Lipstick Addiction marked their territory with their music. Shortly after the band’s formation, representatives of music industry specialists Thigh High Productions felt after seeing the band that Lipstick Addiction's magnetic music, catchy hooks, and visual performance appeal was an undeniably perfect fit for music industry showcases introducing new American music to audiences in England, France, Belgium, Germany and Amsterdam. After Thigh High Productions returned Lipstick Addiction to their local roots, the band refocused their energy and retargeted their collective aggression on the SF Bay Area music scene. During this period, the band became notorious for their unwillingness to adapt to the politics of certain local club owners by refusing to "pay to play" as was the practice at that time around the San Francisco Bay Area, and proceeded to expose these tactics to music industry media and the general public. These actions both angered local club owners and brought Lipstick Addiction closer to their fans. After a handful of performances, the forces that powered Lipstick Addiction gradually shifted from an explosive element that gave Lipstick Addiction an advantageous edge to an implosive element that ushered in a destructive period for the band. During their final recording sessions, continued downward pressure eventually caused Lipstick Addiction to collapse. In 1994, parting ways with their management resulted in the remaining members of Lipstick Addiction embroiled in a bitter dispute with Thigh High Productions over promotional material, ownership of their recordings and publishing rights to their music. Drained and confused by the flip side of the music industry and essentially starting from scratch without the material familiar to the band and their fans, the final members of Lipstick Addiction proved unable to regain control of their ability to maintain their own existence and retreated in different directions resulting in a premature demise for the band. Though recent forces have breathed new life into what was Lipstick Addiction, the future remains to be seen. The above songs come from the last recording sessions. Unmixed and RAW like Rytchie's women when he's through with them!

Resurrection

This weekend a few of the members of the band got together to jam for the first time in quite a long while.  We dusted the cobwebs off our old songs, plugged in, and let it rip.  So the...
