About Me

Spanish Blue hit the Philadelphia music scene in 2005, and has been a mainstay ever since with their unique blend of Phila-Funked-HipHopic-Rock. Commonly referred to as EssBee, the band spent the majority of those first years honing their live show and developing their fan base, by performing in almost every original music venue in the Philadelphia area with many of its top artists. The original line-up consisted of nine players which has since been redefined to a core of only six, consisting of the following: Ryan “Sib” Cybulski, emcee and lead vocalist; Lou Iacovelli, versatile keyboardist, guitarist, and percussionist; Jimmy C., lead guitarist; Dave Schimpf, bass guitarist; Joe Andreacchio, drummer; and Hayden Wright, saxophonist and flutist. Almost all of the band members lend a helping hand on driving home the background vocals. Spanish Blue has recently beefed up their horn section by incorporating Pat Jennings, newcomer to the Philly music scene, on trumpet. Original EssBee member, DJ KD of the Skratch Makaniks, often accompanies them live as well. Spanish Blue was set to release their debut album, Ph-balance, at the end of 2006; however, due to personnel changes and a change in the dynamic of the EssBee sound as a whole, the majority of the twelve tracks were used primarily for demos and for promotion at shows and on the internet. It wasn’t until the arrival of drummer, Joe Andreacchio, that the boys in Blue started hammering out some new material, while looking for an engineer and recording studio to match the raw, yet layered, intensity of the Spanish Blue sound. In early 2007, they linked up with Dave Quicks from Burndown Studios and the result was their highly anticipated, ten track debut, Demon Disco, which dropped on the first day of 2008. Spanish Blue released Demon Disco to a packed house just a few days later at Grape Street Philadelphia, where they donated 100% of the CD’s sales that night to the Adam Conboy Memorial Fund. Spanish Blue is also an active member of the TruePhilly movement, a hip-hop based collective designed to promote fraternity and increase networking among the bands and artists within their genre. With Demon Disco behind them, EssBee has built some real momentum to carry them through 2008 with plenty of show dates to promote their album and extend their fan base. Spanish Blue is not just another typical live hip-hop act, but rather an experience that walks a fine line between leaving you fulfilled, yet wanting even more.SPANISH BLUE "STOMP" (video)
