About Me

Hello! Depotdre is the name! Kansas train depots is the game! I am a Kansas train depot historian. Really just a huge history nut! I travel all over the state of Kansas documenting train depots or train stations. I am big into trains and flat out obsessed with Kansas Train Depots. Another thing I am big on is Old West History and anything to do with the old west. I am proud to be from Wichita, Kansas. Our city was once one of the biggest and meanest cattle towns in Kansas. Look back into Wichita's past. You will find that many of the more famous Outlaws, Shootists and Lawmen lived in Wichita or spent time here. At some point or another. Wichita is full of History and I am damn proud to live here! Born and raised in this city! I am also a PROUD volunteer re-enactor at Old Cowtown Museum. My Mom and I both get out there in our period clothing. Time Jumper/Mom can be seen in alot of my pics. I love museums and road side attractions. No, I don't wear period clothing all of the time. Big into old buildings and 1870's architecture. Kansas Ghost Towns and old gas stations are cool. Then there is my all time favorite KANSAS TRAIN DEPOTS. Kansas train depots are my life and my passion. In the last few years I have managed to photograph, document & research over 166 of the existing train depots in Kansas. I have extensive detailed photos of 166 different train stations here in Kansas. These photos are all color pics. The collection actually consists of four photo books. Each book is 4 to 5 inches thick. This collection of Kansas depots is serious business! I take photos of the old stations from every angle possible. Forever documenting the depots architecture and overall charm in time. I have traveled to and photographed roughly one half of the depots that still stand in Kansas. My plan is to continue my search until I have photographed every train station in the state. I am currently writing a book on Kansas depots that will be much more detailed then any other book of it's kind written in the past. The book will cover every station in the state. Not only will it cover the depots but it will touch on the history of every single town that has a depot. There will be lots of pics. New & old. You will be able to look at pictures of depots taken at the turn of the century. Then compare them to my photos that show the way the depots look today. The book will be full of Kansas railroad & train depot history. Many of my photos will not be available on myspace because of copyright issues and picture theft. If you wish to see any pictures of a certain Kansas train depot please leave me a message and I will make it happen. Thankyou. Enjoy the page! The one and only Kansas Depot Hunter! Depotdre
Depotdre Kansas Stage Company Proprietor Stagecoaches were commonly seen at train depots. Doors open. Awaiting inbound passengers who needed to travel beyond the depot. In other words the passengers needed a way to travel where the railroad did not go. Stagecoaches were the answer in many cases. Eventually the railroad & the automobile would completely wipe out the stagecoaches. R.I.P. CANNONBALL! Stagecoach Owner/Operator True Kansas Pioneer! If you wished to talk to someone long distance you had to go to the depot. The station agent could send messages for a small fee. This was also the way that news traveled. Weather warnings were sent via: telegraph as well.Below is a large collection of A.T. & S.F. Depots. All of the depots seen below are from Kansas! This slider is full of Kansas railroad history! Enjoy!
