The Fall, The Rise (TFTR) are a Birmingham based band comprising Martin Hurley-Vocals, Simon Gough-Guitar, Christopher Schaunig-Bass and Steven Holmes-Drums.
Following the dissolution of their previous band Martin, Simon and Steve-being first and foremost long term friends-decided to continue making the music they wanted to hear and formed TFTR in 2004. After losing their bass player they were fortunate enough to find Chris, who shared their love of both heavy and melodic music and the new TFTR you hear today was formed.
The blueprint for writing their music was simple: If they thought it was good and they enjoyed playing it, then it was good enough for the public to hear. Their songs often contain punishing heavy sections coupled with an almost pop music mentality of ensuring there is always a catchy hook. After all, at the heart of every great song there is a great melody or riff.
After writing songs they were happy to record TFTR entered the studio and set them down with Jim Turner in the secluded hills of Upper Slaughter near Stow-on-the-Wold. This was to become the debut album Interlopers.
Even before it’s release, Interlopers lead track Bite Your Tongue and Walk Away has been picked up by the likes of Zane Lowe where it gained multiple playbacks on his Radio One show and also won the public voted ‘Fresh Meat’ segment. Couple this with the fact that the new video for this song (directed by Adam Powell) has been used by MTV 2 and Rockworld TV and 2008 promises to be a fruitful one already.
To round off this album nicely, Interlopers artwork is provided by the brilliant New York-based artist Jordin Isip . We hope you enjoy Interlopers as much as we do.
