1920s metal!

About Me

Roll up; roll up! Ladies and gentlemen, if you dare to listen, you shall witness in dismay the shock horror of a bona fide live 1920s Metal show! Without further ado, allow me to introduce to you the London-based dodecaphonic metal band, 12 Ton Method:
Duncan Wilkinson - Vocals
Ray Holroyd - Guitar, Vocal Harmonies & Chants
Joe Copcutt - Bass, Vocal Chants
Pat Lundy - Drums
After the demise of Needleye in December 2006, old friends Duncan and Ray were determined not to let the break-up end their collaboration. The pair spent the next few months experimenting with different compositional ideas, ending up back where Ray's heart lies, with Arnold Schoenberg's Twelve-Tone Method from the 1920s (also known as Serialism or Dodecaphony). They then began writing using Ray's updated version of Schoenberg's extremely dissonant method, which Ray had named the 12 Ton Method in 2004, when he founded a metal band by the same name in order to promote the compositional method that he believed to be the true origin of Metal. Once the first new song had been composed in 2007, they realised that 12 Ton Method had essentially been reborn with a new line-up, and therefore the original band name was re-used.
When drummer, Adrian Erlandsson (ex - Cradle of Filth / The Haunted / At The Gates), heard "Mark These Words" in February 2007, he knew that 12 Ton Method was a band that he had to be involved in. With the addition of the young and talented-far-beyond-his-years bassist, Joe Copcutt, the line-up was complete. Sadly, due to prior commitments and the resulting increase in time constraints, Adrian had no choice but to bow-out after the band's Summer 2007 recording sessions for "The Art of Not Falling". After months of searching for a brave drummer capable of taking over from Adrian, the band were astonished by their luck when they discovered and recruited the young prodigy, Pat Lundy, in November 2007.
12 Ton Method composes and performs a unique breed of 1920s Metal with an underlying message that Metal was born in 1923. How? Why? Well, when defining the genre of Metal you must first ask the question: What makes music Metal? The answer: Dissonance and extremity. Now, when was music at its most dissonant and extreme? 1923. And, who took it to that climax? Arnold Schoenberg. Therefore, Metal was born in 1923, and Arnold Schoenberg is the real Godfather of Metal!
Schoenberg broke every single musical rule in the book - but only after he had mastered them all - by composing the most dissonant and extreme music ever heard. As a result, his works were deemed violent and incomprehensible, and he was scorned. However, now that dissonant and extreme music has been embraced by millions of open-minded individuals around the world, it is finally time to set the record straight.
12 Ton Method will launch its recorded dodecaphonic campaign with the release of its debut EP "The Art of Not Falling" in February 2008, and will follow up with the launch of its live 1920s Metal campaign the following month.
Come one, come all, step right up to experience the 1920s Metal extravaganza of 12 TON METHOD!!!
