Contemplation, creativity, and meditation produce electrical waves in the brain causing what is known as Theta State.
Utilizing both software and custom-made instruments, Theta State began recording in 2007 with plans to self-release under Subversive Culture Records, both a finished album and a live show. Never afraid to explore new territory, the music of Theta State creates dark ambient experimental breakbeats - a fusion of hip hop, funk, drum & bass, breaks, industrial, ambient, & experimental electronic. Theta State’s extended mixes are known to move the listener through a complete range of emotions, often in the most unexpected ways.
Pursuing the musical embodiment of this phenomenon, Craig Maslowski has run the gamut from mellow ambient pieces to furious breaks. After picking up his first instrument in 1991, studying guitar and music theory under Ray Holroyd of 12 Ton Method & Needleye, he soon entered the realm of free form electronic music with projects such as lysdexic, Prayer Chair, The Narcoleptic Anarchists and as a member of the now-defunct Infinite Sector, a collective of experimental electronic musicians from around the world.
Subversive Culture Records is slated to release the first Theta State full-length EP in 2008/2009 with plans to sign more bands in the future. For previews of the album and other Theta State news including debut single “Lisa’s Xmas Mix 2007,†log on to: http://www.theta-state.com/
