documentaries; rock history; funky little subcultures; Pauline Kael; organic living; found object projects; comic books; Lynda Barry; photography; poetry; odd phobias; fake mustaches; Futurama; interior and exterior design; nutrition; novels; Bust Magazine; postcards; glow-in-the-dark religious icons — basically, the detritus of postmodern living.
Individuals with one foot outside of the grid; poets who actually know what the hell they are doing; avid readers; people who are crazy about movies; the disenfranchised who don't care what anybody thinks; those who are educated but not crass; writers who sweat ink; people who can wear pink with, and without, irony. I like surprises. However, if you are the schizophrenic transvestite that yelled at me two weeks ago, don't even think about adding me.
Billie Holiday; Peaches; XTC; Frank Black; Miles Davis; Jacqueline Du Pre; Stereolab; David Bowie; Grace Jones; Kathy McCarty; The Handsome Family; Elgar; The Pretenders; Cocteau Twins; Daniel Johnston; Bob Dylan; Liz Phair; Devo; My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult; anything put out by Trojan Records (love that old school ska!); Sia; The Fall; Goldfrapp; Robert Johnston; Iggy Pop; Ernest Tubb; The Breeders; Glass Eye; 50 Foot Wave; The Pretenders; Tom Waits; The Dave Brubeck Quartet; Pixies.
I LOVE MOVIES, and I love to try out new directors and genres, but I'm picky as hell. I'm just going to mention a few of my favorites:The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou; Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus; They Might Be Giants; The Bad and The Beautiful; Bell, Book and Candle; Without A Clue; Frida; Pillow Talk; I Heart Huckabees; Creature From The Black Lagoon; Amelie; Run Lola Run; Casino Royale (the original— NOT the new film); What's Up, Pussycat?; Sunset Boulevard.
I unplugged my television set a year ago. I didn't actually own a television set until I was 24. Even so, I've rented several things lately that I either loved or was amused by, including "Everybody Hates Chris," "My Name Is Earl," and "The L Word."
I write and edit for a living, so of course I read constantly, voraciously. What I love are writers who do surprising things with words and images. I think that pretty much covers the gamut.
