BETTER DAY
E.P "REWIND TO PLAY" & SINGLE "BETTER DAY" NOW AVAILABLE.
URBAN STONE'S much anticipated debut E.P (REWIND TO PLAY) is out now, as is the smashing single (BETTER DAY). Pick up your copies at any of our up & coming gigs, or message us online for alternative procedures. We should have them available to purchase online very soon. The launch of these two releases was fantastic. Pics from the night are in our pics section. The turn out of the fans & the support & vibe at the BALD FACED STAG was unbelievable. We couldn't have asked for a better night. A massive thanks goes out to everyone that contributed to the event & made it sound, look & cook as well as it did. The Urban Stone tech-team were a pack of work horses on the day & the results showed come showtime. We look forward to working with them again soon. The venue was absolutely perfect. We have the best bunch of fans, friends & fellow aussie rockers that brought the vibe to the room in great numbers & your support is matched by no other. Thank you to all the industry profiles & fellow partners in melodic crime that made it to the gig. We truly love performing for our peers & seniors. Of course a tremendous thanks go out to our management Skeed Entertainment for constantly kicking us into gear, always believing in us & getting us the gigs that we strive to conquer. Then there's every single person in the room that sang the chorus to our track "Better Day" mid-song all on your own. It raised the hairs on the back of our necks & that's the very reason we're in this business!!!!! It simply sounded better than anything we've ever heard before in our entire lives. Do it again & again please lol. We look forward to taking these tracks to the airways, raising the bar in 2008 & hitting the big lineups & bills around the traps & beyond. We can't wait to rock with you all again at the next gig.

GBOB NATIONAL FINAL - SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.......... ..
GBOB WORLD FINALS - LONDON, U.K.......... ..
URBAN STONE RETURN FROM A VERY SUCCESSFUL TRIP TO LONDON FOR THE GLOBAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS WORLD FINALS.
The GBOB Challenge is the world’s biggest competition for bands of all genres. In a competition consisting of over 3,000 bands from over 30 countries around the globe. After winning the Australian national final at Sydney's Gealic Theatre in November, URBAN STONE managed to grab 7th place in the world & displayed what was by far the performance of their lives at the historic "Electric Ballroom" rock venue in the heart of Camden Town, London.
What an experience....
It was an absolute blast getting to where we did, & especially when we'd heard we made it through what many quoted as the toughest line up that London had ever seen in GBOB history on day 2 of the competition. On the third day, the Super-Final was always going to be a phenomenal display. The music was one enourmous orgy of global diversity & sonic journeys. The bands were elite & equipped with enough adrenaline to move a freight train. The lights & sound were some of the best we've seen & the crowd of over 1,500 screaming locals & travellers went bezerko. We befriended bands from all around the globe, made connections with some brilliant people, locals & industry profiles on our journey & got lost in London as expected on numerous occasions lol....
We stayed at the Royal National Hotel in Russel Square & were well looked after & accommodated once we had arrived. After a stressful approximate 40 hour journey & ping pong entry into the U.K, one would expect us to have rested & put our feet up before our re-scheduled performance on the 2nd day of the GBOB world finals. But no rest for the wicked we say... We found small spaces of time to see the sights & have a pint or 2 as much as possible, lol. Sleep's over-rated anywayz, lol. From the Tower Bridge, to London Bridge, Big Ben, Camden Markets, Government House, the famous Abbey Road & the Beatles Wall, we discovered the heritage that bleeds the beautiful & historic town of London & all it has to offer. The pubs, clubs & music scene is thriving & we can't wait to return again in times to come.
All in all, the world really did get STOOOOOONED haha. However, there's only one winner that's due the major prize on the night & that went to "The Boys In The Band" from the Faroe Islands. A huge congratulations & our best wishes go out to this great Indie outfit that has just been catapoulted into streaming success & may all good tidings come their way. As for us, we are back to continue our path of gigs in 2008, & we can't wait for some of our much anticipated up & coming events to take place. We will also be aiming to support & be on the bills along side some of our favourite touring artists in the near future, as well as getting our favourite tracks on prime time radio & seeking a recording contract that will get our CD on the mainstream shelves. Our songs have just started to hit the airwaves & it feels fantastic. These are some of our short term goals. Check out all our pics from London on our "view pics" page, & check out our "youtubed performance footage" of our hit tracks "WITHOUT YOU" & BETTER DAY" on this very page. It's great to be home & it's time to rock with our many partners in crime around the traps of the fabulous Aussie rock scene.
Skies are the limit.
ROCK ON MYSPACE & GO THE STOOOOONE!!!!
ABOUT THE "STONE"
GLOBAL BATTLE OF THE BANDS WORLD SUPER-FINALISTS 2007. 30 COUNTRIES, 3,000 BANDS. FIRST PLACE IN AUSTRALIA. SEVENTH PLACE IN THE WORLD!!!
Urban Stone are a tight new wave, rock quartet, who have been together as a band for 3 years & have made tremendous ground considering. As individuals, the band have solid musicianship & experience behind them, aswell as a great stage vibe & of course, an itch to scratch when it comes to rockin' out for their enthusiasts.
With powerhouse rockette Tina Garufi out front delivering blistering vocals, surrounded by all round, tasty rocker & Dan Skeed, Kelvin (slap) King' & the backbone 'Matt Briscoe-Hough', they've made their mark by playing along side as well as playing with some of Australia's most respected rockers. Such As - The Screaming Jets, The Angels & the famous Doc Neeson, Ian Moss, Angry Anderson, Mark Williams (Dragon), Alan Barnes, Swanny, Mark Gable (Choirboys), Leo Sayer, Travis Collins, Gangajang, members of the bands Powderfinger, Midnight Oil, Peter Northcote & more. They've caught the ears & eyes of many crowds & industry profiles throughout the inner city, western suburbs of Sydney, & further up & down the coast of New South Wales. They've recieved recognition for their efforts in numerous areas such as a nomination for the '2005 ACE awards' (Australian Club Entertainment) original music group of the year along side Thirsty Merc', The Little River Band's (Birtles, Shorrock & Gobles) & 'Mental As Anything'.
They've had great success in numerous competitions. They placed first in the Sydney, & then the Australian national finals of "Global Battle Of The Bands 2007" & then progressed to the WORLD INTERNATIONAL FINALS in London where they placed 7th out of the best new bands in the world in the "GBOB SUPER FINAL" held at the Electric Ballroom in the heart of Camden Town. They've worked with 'Channel 9' as the subject for hit t.v show 'What's Good For You', & have worked with local 'Channel 31' on numerous occasions.
Urban Stone have recieved a re-booking, & fantastic feedback at just about every venue, function or outdoor event they've hit thus far. Urban Stone work very regularly, often for up to 4 hours a night, numerous times a week, keeping them gig-fit & constantly learning & writing new material to please the crowds & further explore their musicianship as a unit.
Their original material has been described as a "VERY CATCHY", fresh, funk/hip form of rock, with an oldschool 80's melodic rock god edge. Their lyrics are usually dark & emotive, complimented by feel good, uplifiting catchy choruses. Their music is very dynamic. Recently, they have extended their versatility by writing some punk rock, melodic metal, smooth acoustic/powerpop & Sunday funk to add some real light & shade to their original repertoir. Basically, a little something for everyone. They suit a range of venues, crowds & occasions be it a pub, party vibe, dancefloor bash, sit down show, outdoor festival or corporate event. They have a covers show with a diverse repertoir to suit any crowd consisting of all the hits from the 70's, 80's, 90's & now.
Currently performing in venues all around NSW & beyond, they aim to go 1 step further & attack the labels & airways with their hot debut E.P album "Rewind To Play" & awesome new single "Better Day" in 2008.
Stay tuned.
Rockin' at a venue near you soon.
Come & scream..... "GO THE STONE".

Sounds Like: Their original material has been described as a "VERY CATCHY", fresh, funk/hip form of rock, with an oldschool 80's melodic rock god edge. Their lyrics are usually dark & emotive, complimented by feelgood uplifiting catchy choruses. Their music is very dynamic. Recently, they have extended their versatility by writing some punker rock, melodic metal, smooth acoustic/powerpop & even some OZ hip-rock (laughs) to add some real light & shade to their original repertoir.
