My Own Sin is an unusual sonic blend of emotional turbulence and keen musicianship. Their story begins in 2003. Rooted in Orange Park, Florida the band is influenced just as much by heavier bands like Slipknot and American Head Charge as more melodic acts like A Perfect Circle. Music is not their only influence, though. The impact of their own struggles in life is also a key component to their songwriting and live performances. Guitarists Phillip Ross and Ryan Wilkins provide the heavy yet melodic guitars that shape My Own Sin's aggressive sound. They are anchored by Joe Kemplin's finger picking bass. Keyboardist Liz Baker is the bands newest member. Baker's keyboards are not just a mere backdrop for the other players in the band. Her keys give the band its audial calling card. Fronting this cast is vocalist Danie Ross. Her voice embodies a unique characteristic that very few singers in rock or any other genre possess. Her voice is without gender. Her smooth delivery is tempered with unexpected screams of raw anguish. My Own Sin has shared the stage with countless national acts including Bile, Cruxshadows, Soulfly, Bloodsimple and Skindred. They also have many devoted Children of Sin all over the world. The band was awarded two Hard Music Awards in 2005 for Best Alternative Artist and Best New Artist. 2006 has brought many new developments for My Own Sin, including endorsements and their first production deal. Chaotic yet serene, jarring but beautiful, seductive and scary, these are all words that can describe My Own Sin but, words are not enough. Their music, which is not for the weak-hearted, will speak for itself.
