Ariel by Sylvia Plath,("We shall by morning inherit the earth, our foots in the door")Stranger Music by Leonard Cohen,( "Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash.") Jack Kerouac, (Jack taught me, a feminist, how to love the essence of men too- because you can tell by his writing he did.)To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee, The Color Purple, Alice Walker, The Collected Stories, Grace Paley,Anais Nin, Jennifer Weiner, who creates charactors that could be your best friend, Toni Morrison, her words MOVE you,Selected Verse by Federico Garcia Lorca,The Diary of Anne Frank, and the Art of Happiness by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. I also have this great book called Poetry Speaks with three cd's with many poets reading their own work. The Feminine Mystique is a wonderful book too. For the women who are dearly afraid of where our future in reproductive rights is headed- "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood is a bone chilling, feminist sci-fi nightmare- it is an INCREDIBLE peice of literature. Check it out!I love the ending of Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle"...I could read it forever."Welcome to the Monkey House"-classic,brillaint Vonnegut. Life of Pi and A Prayer for Owen Meany both blew me away and broke my heart into billions of beautiful peices.
Right now I just need to be my own hero. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. ..
