Singing all types of music, black & white photography, writing poetry, watching classic movies (such as Mildred Pierce, Imitation of Life), flea markets (you can find some cool stuff there!), watching music videos (there's a lot of good ones on YouTube!); and collecting meaningful quotes. "Never doubt that a small group of committed, thoughtful people can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."--Margaret Mead
I'd like to meet people who are open minded, compassionate, and passionate in their beliefs, particularly when it comes to the rights of all persons, not just some persons. I'd like to meet people who aren't homophobic, xenophobic, and all around are accepting of all people. I'd also like to meet people who love to laugh (and not at the expense of others), enjoy life, enjoy music, and believe that everyone has strengths within them. Life is too short to be hating on people, besides there's enough of it on reality television!
Peter Gabriel, Sting, Prince, Etta James, Nina Simone, Bill Withers, 80's music (I can't let it go!), Motown, U2, Mary J. Blige, k.d. lang, world music, and the list goes on and on. I love a little bit of everything!
Millions, Jumping Jack Flash, Plan 9 From Outer Space (because it's so bad, it's good!), Imitation of Life, Little Miss Sunshine, The Color Purple, Spaceballs, The Usual Suspects, Best In Show, and V for Vendetta.
The Closer (Thank you..), Ugly Betty, King of the Hill, Law & Order: SVU, and Scrubs.
Their Eyes Were Watching God-Zora Neale Hurston; Amazing Grace-Jonathan Kozol; The Accidental Buddhist-Dinty W. Moore; and Words of Paradise: Selected Poems of Rumi.
Peter Gabriel because he has been a tireless leader in human rights and amnesty; Barbara Ehrenreich because she really told it like it is in her book "Nickel and Dimed: On Not Getting By in America" for so many people who are non-existent in the eyes of our government; Tyne Daly, whose portrayal of a social worker on "Judging Amy" was such a refreshingly real approach of what it really is like to be a social worker; and Maya Angelou, for always being an inspiration to me for not just her phenomenal poetry but for her being such a "Phenomenal Woman", (one of my favorite poems by Maya Angelou, check it out sometime!)
