Singer/guitarist/songwriter. London based. A telling story of Jamie’s musical career occurred in the early 90s when he met a big wig music business manager in a luxurious setting in The Bolton’s in London’s South Kensington in his early 20s. He arrived at the imposing property entered guitar in hand, and sat to play some songs and chat for a while. Jamie was NFA at the time moving from couch to couch, squat to squat, and it was with more than a little irony that Jamie took on board the manager’s comment that Jamie ‘was not hungry enough’. Thing is the guy was absolutely right; if Jamie had wanted to have been a lawyer, stockbroker, or banker it would have been within his grasp, he certainly would have had the right ties. So it dawned on Jamie, perhaps a little late, that this was a business like any other, and despite the casual turn out of the business people you meet in the industry they were really just suits in casual dress despite protestations that ‘we just really love music’. Jamie is then currently focussed on achieving his MSc in Medical Anthropology then onto a career in health research. Sure it means he didn’t succeed in his musical endeavours, but if this is second best it’s a better second best that he could have ever imagined.
