There...our new year's wishes to the entire EU-police force, as well as a ska-dub band operating in the twilight zone of what is Belgium and what could be the world if we had our way. In the dim lit venue of a squat in Leuven Kelderman and Paulus The Bass-Gnome plotted the first basslines in 2004. Shortly after, Mr Massiv showed up of local Usual Suspects-fame as well as ill-reputed for his bad record collection. He gave the drums a good beating, and together with a load of samples our line-up was complete. Through third-rate antiquities and scrap as well as a piece of dumpstered software from a supermarket's wastebin, the samples were played automatically, embarassing us at more then one gig when they fell out, or got stuck on repeat in the middle of a 6 minute-epic song... It didn't stop us from playing about 30 gigs in this line-up: from Berlin to Ljubljana, but never in Kortessem! Just before planned demo-recordings, Mr Massiv was forced to hand his sticks to jah. Fortunately for us, around that time Wicked Mr Copincinerator got released from yet another police-cell somewhere in Europe to manage the drum-duties and brought along T. Combicremator who tamed the samples and now unleashes them live, saving us from technical breakdowns ever since... So from july 2007 on we're back, hopefully to the regret of many a cop/fascist or capitalist. ps: If you think we look familiar, you may have seen us previously with any of these bands we played in: far to close, detritus, ulrike's dream, usual suspects, blackout, d'onderhondNL - Cop On Fire! Ziedaar onze nieuwjaarswensen aan het voltallige EU-politiekorps, en tevens een ska/dubgroep die opereert in de schemerzone tussen wat België is e de wereld zou kunnen zijn als het aan ons lag. In de schaars verlichte zaal van een Leuvens kraakpand beraamden Kelderman en Paulus De Baskabouter de eerste baslijnen in 2004. Kort nadien dook Mr Massiv op, bekend van die andere locals The Usual Suspects en van zijn slechte-platen-collectie, en hij drumde een eind weg. De samples waren het extra ingrediënt om onze duistere klank te vervolmaken. Via allerlei derderangs vierdehandsmateriaal en een stukje software (opgevist uit een container achter een supermarkt) slaagden wij erin enkele klanken en wijsheden doorheen onze muziek te sampelen. In deze bezetting speelden we zo'n 30 concerten: van de Meulestede tot Ljubljana, maar nooit in Kortessem. Net voor de geplande demo-opnames eind 2006 moest Mr Massiv echter de drumstokken aan jah geven. Op dat moment kwam gelukkiglijk Wicked Mr Copincinerator vrij uit een willekeurige politiecel in Europa en bracht T. Combicremator met zich mee. De drums waren weer helemaal terug, en de samples worden vanaf nu live gedaan, hetgeen onze technische pannes drastisch verminderd heeft. Vanaf juli 2007 is de cop weer on fire, en ja, ook de financiële sector gaat dan een onzekere toekomst tegemoet met pompende dub/ska als soundtrack. ps: voor wie die smoelen als eens gezien denkt te hebben, ze doken eerder op bij bands als far to close, detritus, ulrike's dream, usual suspects, blackout, d'onderhond.................. .........CD-EP "WELCOME TO THE FREE ZONE" out march 8, 2008 - mail for copies to
