I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Currently I'm teaching film production at The Film School of San Antonio at Harlandale HS as well as work for cineVELIZ. Before that I was briefly a "media tech" for the city of San Anto...that lasted about 3 months. I was a producer/editor/director for PBS for 8 years. I'd been with PBS since 1996 and have done just about every job there you can think of. I've got 6 full length documentries under my belt as well as 5 docu-shorts that have aired on various PBS stations around the US.I completed post production on the indie mock-umentry called "Tripa Love" for Extra Crispy Productions & "Fresh Cut '05" for PBS which was submitted for Emmy nomination. This is the second submission in the past 2 years and I'm hoping for a nomination this year. I was beginning post production for my latest documentry, "Exeter: The Fan Film" when the rug was pulled out so to speak.I left PBS in April 0f 2006 and have not looked back! And, it's been a really good thing. I'm now a boardmember for CineVeliz as well as "Perro Audio" and I have finished my first narrative short film in 10 years.I've also been DJing since, well, the 80's! I've spun trance, acid, techno, breaks, house, Jungle/DnB and every genre inbetween though for the past few years, I've leaned towards retro, disco and house music. I'm now back into House, some Electro and anything I can find with a White Label and a beat! I've taken some time off to work on film-films!Clubs Residences: the Tunnel (2 years) The Metro (1 year) Lonesome Dove (Techno Nites) (1 year) Aftershox (open to close) Atomix (open to close...became The Spy Room) Polly Esthers, San Antonio (Open-2001) Sin 13 (guest spots) Black Cat Lounge (Open to Close) Atomix (Open to August 2005) Atomix's RadioActive Retro Nite (Mid-Jan 2006 to APRIL 2006) Pettycoat Junction (aka PJs 2006 to ?) Sanctuary (Guest Spots 2006 to ?)DJed with Troy Mesa, Francisco, BC, Michael Angel, Retroboi, MadMax, Steveo, JustAngel & Malediction!I'm into vintage anything...clothes, cars, electronics, and apparently the Air Guitar! The First Video below is the trailer for our latest feature film called "7 Kilos." IT was shot in Texas and mostly in the San Antonio area. The film was shot over the period of 1 month with 2 days of second unit pick-ups. This film will be out on DVD Sept 18, 2007.Below is a short film I recently edited for a first-time director. She was a real pleasure to work with and I hope to see more things from her and her crew soon:

My Interests

My interests are making films, DJing and remixing. I've got a '58 VW Ragtop that I work on from time to time. Vintage is a big thing with me hence the old car. I also love 70's clothes and 60's mod furniture...I have a weakness for Frank Lloyd Wright, Michael Graves and Frank Gehry (thanks Meg for the spelling)

I'd like to meet:

Good friends are like good potato chips, one might be enough but you can always use more... Now, I'm not saying I eat my friends and I'm not saying I don't...I'm just saying that many friends are good to have... and I can always use more!Tootsie Blow Pop

Music:

Music...oh such a hard topic to pin down with me....My house side leans toward San Fran house... i.e. Miguel Migs, anything on the Naked Music , OM Records and Six Dregrees record labels. My sythpop side leans toward anything sold on ADIFFERENTDRUM.com. Then there's my retro side...New Order, D.O.A., Secession, Skinny Puppy, Killing Joke (Love Like Blood years), Ministry(Work For Love/W Sympathy years), Depeche Mode, Celebrate the Nun, Boytronic, Fad Gadget, Ultravox & anything Freestyle (Expose, George LeMonde, Shannon, Little Suzy etc)....ah where will it end. Retro also inlcudes my Bossa Nova side... i.e. Jobim, Astrud & Joao Gilberto, their daughter Bebel...and classic Jazz music. I'm not into country or Tejano but love Rancheras and classic Cumbias. Postal Service, Death Cab and Dentl... that kind of thing is really awesome. I've really been diggin' "Torch" from Austin... playing a Luna. a Jazz band with a dead-ringer for Billie Holiday. Luna is owned and operated by Marcus and his family and was introduced to me by my friend and mentor Michael Mehl. The place has really picked up so it's hard to get a seat anymore AND people talk too much. Right now I'm really digging The Mary Onettes, The National, Camera Obscura, Beck, The Presets, Cut Copy, JUSTICE (thanks Angel), And One, IAMX, MIA, Le Tigre, Blaqk Audio and my Twisted Tenderness deluxe edition from Electronic.Sin 13 iTunes Mixes available on Apple's iTunes website. Also check out Vols. 1, 2,3,4 & 5.Daft Bodies - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Movies:

Movies, yet another topic hard for me to pin down...where do I begin...my Troma Collection (Cry Uncle, Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, Canable the Musical....), my B-movies like Killer Klowns From Outspace, Drive and Attack of the Killer Tomatos, Black-sploitation like Blackula, Black Belt Jones...my Sci-Fi fun ala Buckaroo Bonzai& the 5th Element, my Bert Reynolds Retrospective (Pre-mustche Bert, Tough Bert, Sensitive Bert, Squeal like a Pig Bert and the one we all love Bandit Burt!) and Mystery Men (soft spot of Geneane). Wanna talk flicks, here I am....

Television:

when I had DirecTV, it was always on Sci-Fi and Tech-TV. But Tech TV was bought out so there went that. Sci-Fi I guess. I to get my tech fixes from G4_TechTV like ATTACK OF THE SHOW. I wish Leo Laporte would return, I miss the Screensavers. Other shows I wish would return include "Joe Bob Briggs Drive-Inn Theatre", "Land OF The Lost," "Tales Of The Gold Monkey," "Automan," Battlestar Galatica" (Original), "Voyagers," and other short run series of the 80's.

Books:

Who has time to read these days...I'm trying to finish the damn Davinci Code but the media spoiled the book for me so I've kinda slacked off.

Heroes:

Dad and Bruce Campbell & new San Antonio Golden boy Pablo Veliz (read my blog). Enough said.

My Blog
