My Interests

US Military - Navy, baby! and the others too... Oh yeah, Music, World War II, the Civil War, boots (tall black ones esp. circa WWII Germany officer's - sexy), making the world a better place by spreading joy wherever I go and I'll do it wearing tall black boots and singing Anchors Aweigh drinking a mint julip. How's that?

I'd like to meet:

Brave men and women who have fought for our freedom at home and abroad as well as those who ensure our safety everyday. US NAVY, US MARINE CORPS, US ARMY, US COAST GUARD, US AIR FORCE, POLICE, TROOPERS, FIREFIGHTERS, EMTs -Thanks to you all and God Bless You and keep you safe. See my tribute page at: MySpace.com/canoeclubcarolanne

Music:

Obviously whoever's song is my profile song, indie/alt stuff, Sirius Satellite radio rocks - check it out, eels, Aqualung, Joni Mitchell, Bill Callahan,(Smog), Eric Bachmann, Radiohead, Cake, Archers of Loaf, Steve Earle, Robyn Hitchcock, Lucinda Williams, Interpol, Blink182, Angels and Airwaves, Kings of Leon, Arcade Fire, Flaming Lips, Billy Idol and Generation X (just for old times sake), The Ramones, Marvin Gaye, Al Greene, Mozart, Wagner, Johnny Cash, Jazz of the Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie variety as well as the Charles Mingus type; new wave and punk from early 80s, some country from the late 80s, a very teeny bit of hip-hop - but not much, classic rock - the standards that I need not even list...more later as I think of 'em

Movies:

Idi I Smotri (Come and See), Stalingrad, Black Book, In Harm's Way, U-571, Das Boot, (pretty much all submarine movies right now), K-19: The Widowmaker, and really ALL WAR MOVIES, and ALL NAVY movies, The Sound of Music, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin), Super Bad! and Hot Fuzz, while we're at it.

Television:

War Documentaries - anything on History or Military Channels, esp. Weaponology and Future Weapons, British Comedies - especially 'Allo!'Allo!, Vicar of Dibley, Dad's Army (all very old), The Office (the Brit one); Oz (HBO prison show not the one with Dorothy and the Scarecrow), Homicide:Life on the Streets, The Shield, House, Reno 911!, Family Guy, John Stewart Show, Stephen Colbert Show, Keith Olberman on MSNBC

Books:

I am currently reading "MY WAR" by Andy Rooney - yep that 60 Minutes guy about his WWII experiences. I also am reading "US Navy Ships of World War II"- it isn't for everyone but I like it! I love War books - fiction, non-fiction and biographies. Mysteries, esp. Inspector Lynley series (Elizabeth George), Inspector Morse Series (Colin Dexter)- more of that Brit stuff - what's up with that? and Sue Grafton.

Heroes:

All men and women who serve (and have ever served)in the US Armed Forces to protect our freedom; firefighters, law enforcement, EMTs who serve to protect our safety.
