About Me

I'm a freelance and syndicated cartoonist. My cartoon panels appear online @ http://www.glasbergen.comI live with my wife in a big old creaky house in a very small town in a rural part of New York State, surrounded by dogs, cats, guinea pigs, fish, and frogs. My home used to be a boarding house for local school teachers and I work up on the 3rd floor. My cartoons have been published by Funny Times, Cosmopolitan, Harvard Business Review, Recycled Paper Greetings, America Online, Bally Total Fitness, Curves, Toastmasters, Time Warner Cable, and many others for books, greeting cards, calendars, magazines, advertising and more.My newest project is "Thin Lines", a weekly newspaper cartoon distributed by Creators Syndicate for Health & Fitness pages of newspapers. I also write and draw "The Better Half" for King Features Syndicate.

My Interests

I'm a hobby collector of Popeye, Monkees, and GI Joe stuff, but nothing fanatical. I work, eat, sleep, exercise and floss regularly ... not the kind of life people make movies about.

I'd like to meet:

The person who stole most of my hair while I was sleeping.

Music:

My iPod covers a pretty wide spectrum. Only thing I don't like is music that sounds like angry people are yelling at me. I prefer music that I grew up with but also listen to some current stuff like Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Wondermints plus new stuff by old favorites like Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, Eagles, Mary Weiss, Susan Cowsill, Maria Muldaur, Bonnie Bramlett, Agnetha Fältskog, Dan Hicks, Donald Fagen, etc. Big fan of classic Phil Spector productions and Brill Building hit songwriters. My all-time favorite song: "Oh Babe What Would You Say?" by Hurricane Smith.

Movies:

My all-time favorite movie: When Harry Met Sally. Anna Faris always cracks me up and I still like old Woody Allen stuff. Love the Marx Brothers and any of the Christopher Guest ensemble movies like Spinal Tap, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, etc.

Television:

I DVR The Office, Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Big Love, Heroes, Jay Leno, SNL. I will watch the same reruns of Seinfeld over and over, something that drives my wife nuts. I'm still a fan of the old Andy Griffith Show, probably because my town is a lot like Mayberry.

Books:

Mostly biographies and humor. Most recent: Ricky Nelson, Idol for a Generation; The Art of Peter Max; Mere Anarchy by Woody Allen; Captain Action, The Original Super-Hero Action Figure; Timmy's In The Well by Jon Provost, Steve Martin: Born Standing Up. I also read a ton of magazines every month.

Heroes:
