Music:
Americana/Alt-Country and Classic Mo-Town and Funk are probably my fav. Bands like Frog Holler, Wilco, Son-Volt, Lucinda Williams, The Supremes, Sly & The Family Stone, Earth, Wind And Fire, etc. I am currently in love with Ryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne. Beatie Boys, Elvis Costello, Crowded House, Stevie Wonder, Rilo Kiley (Jenny Lewis rocks), Ian Tyson, Wyoming's own Chris Ledoux (RIP), The Grateful Dead. Classical music of all types, World Music, Country music (old more than new). Willie Nelson. Johnny Cash, Martin Sexton, Damien Rice, Third Day, Delirious, Love my XM Satellite Radio - esp channels ..12, 75, 13, 60. A fair amount of good 80's music (not the crap - no Debbie Gibson, more like World Party, XTC, The Police, The Specials, Prince, Depeche Mode, Big Audio Dynamite, The Clash, the good stuff). Almost anything they play on WXPN in Philadelphia (I listen to their webcast), classical, real jazz, bluegrass, reggae and some rock and hip-hop. Oh and I could listen to Norah Jones and Jeff Buckley all day long.
Movies:
Hmmm... I have a love/hate relationship with movies. I either really like them or I turn them off or leave the theatre. I love and support independent films/ filmmakers - as long as they are not too self indulgent. I LOVE old westerns and new ones too. Favs include: Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid, Tom Horn, Unforgiven, Open Range and Tombstone (I'll be your huckleberry...). I like period movies like adaptations of Jane Austin novels. Other favs include Shakespeare In Love, Princess Bride, Bend It Like Beckham, Chocolat, Finding Neverland, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Hidalgo most movies with John Cusack, various and sundry Monty Python/ Upright Citizens Brigade and any movie where I cry at the end.
Television:
I own one but don't have cable or satellite. I don't get any TV reception anymore - ya know, on account o' livin' in the mountains. I used to get WY PBS and NBC. On PBS I liked watching Austin City Limits and that show where they made the people live like old west settlers. Oh and I love Law & Order on NBC. I watch Foxnews/ CNN/ any news/ bank stations when I get around cable. Oh and Absolutely Fabulous still makes me laugh til I cry. OH! OH! I love Gray's Anatomy - I watched it on DVD!
Books:
The Bible, True Horsemanship Through Feel, anything by CS Lewis, plays (Shakespeare, Contemporary, whatever), Under The Banner Of Heaven & Into Thin Air (Krakauer), Jane Austin novels, political rants, anything by David Horowitz (Radical Son is a fav), theological works (especially by Zacharias and Lewis), The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, good magazines - my current favorite is PASTE and I read Martha Stewart Livings and "car mags" every month and admit it, any non-fiction pertaining to whatever I'm interested in at the time.
Heroes:
My mom, dad, step-mom, brothers and family in general. Risk takers, people who love deeply, Jesus, my family, my dear friends far and wide, Bill & Tom Dorrance, compassionate ones, Kelly & Cherise Smith (they work with AIDS children in South Africa), my friend Stefan who is working on the Apache reservation.
