I love film quite a bit. Would give myself a nasty hemorrhage trying to narrow down my favorites. My ideal film would probably be somewhere along the lines of the Coen Brothers working with Werner Herzog on a fictional(ized?) documentary starring Beat Takeshi and Tom Waits. A sprinkling of Christopher Guest and Ridley Scott and we've got ourselves a blockbuster!
Television:
Give me characters, give me a mystery, and give me suspense. I'll watch it if the dialogue is good. I'll especially watch it if there are space-ships, surrealism, and/or the occult.
Books:
recently finished a great historical linguistics book called EMPIRES OF THE WORD. Before that was George RR Martin's A FEAST FOR CROWS and prior to that, Ursula K LeGuin's THE LEFT HAND OF DARKNESS. Done with John LeCarre's A PERFECT SPY (wonderful) and Christopher Moore's COYOTE BLUE. Now reading Neal Stephenson's CRYPTONOMICON.
