Bob Souza

Bob Souza studied electric bass with Cláudio Bertrami, acoustic bass with Gerson Frutuoso, Max Ebert Filho and Ana Valéria Pólis. Bachelor in music at FAAM,(Art Faculty Alcantara Machado). Specialist degree in musical structuring (Carlos Gomes Faculty of Music), Master in Education Art and Culture History at Mackenzie University. He attended Jazz improvisation classes at Jamey Aebersold's program tuitioned by Steve Erquiaga, John Goldsby, David Kana, David Baker, Bill Moring, Chris Fitzgerald, Lynn Seaton and Rufus Reid at the University of Louisville (Ky). He is currently developing academic activities in the Conservatório Villa Lobos and University of Music of the Foundation Technological Institute of Osasco (FITO). Bob Souza is instructor in the Experimental Center of Music of Sesc Consolação, where he had a series of auditions beside names as Nuno Mindelis, André Christovam, Flávio Guimarães, Aleh Ferreira, Henrique Cazes, Mozart Mello, Alessio Menconi and Maurizio Maranto. As an instrumentalis has developed works of Brazilian instrumental music highligting the participations in the Festivals of Jazz of Viña del Mar (Chile) and San Raphael (Argentina) accompanying pianist Ziara Brant and Cascavél Jazz Festival integrating the Chico Medori Quarteto. He integrated the Banda do Chefe and Maestro Branco Octeto. He is playing with several artists as: André Abujamra, Armando Leite, Banda Tribbu, Belô Velloso, Edvaldo Santana, Jair Oliveira e Luciana Mello, Lobão, Palavra Cantada, Rick Udler e Maria Alvim, Rosana Garcia, Salloma Salomão,Soweto, Susie Mathias, and Yehuda Glants. He is currently developing his very own instrumental project called Grande São Paulo Quarteto with Marcelo Manfra, Renato Alves and Ronaldo Palleze.
